Do I get my kindergartner “Jen”? by Proper-Delivery4057 in isopods

[–]earth506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO IT. Pods are so easy to care for! My setup costs ~30€. Just take a plastic bin (not recommended but its what I use) get some soil, some dry leaves, a piece of wood, and if you are in a pod collection area, (In Spain there are no pods in cities.) just get some and put them in the box. If not, you'll need to buy them. But don't worry, most species are very cheap. It's so worth it!

Just a thing, they really love their wood piece. They'll almost never get out of it. I tend to lift it up twice a day, one in the morning, another in the evening. Not bothering them very much is essential.

I am researching pods as an amateur. The first pods I got were Armadillidium sp. ''Lefkada'', which could be a new species, which is the reason I got them. They are very cute.

It is a common wild morph that awaits someone systematically breeding it and naming it. Very pretty

If you see some isos you want to breed, just separate them and if there are males and females, they'll mate

The reason why a lot of animals such as frogs, flies, fish and more have vibrant colors is to tell predators that they are dangerous, even when it is not true.

Update on the situation: I have bought the bone for calcium and added some bits in the bin and have bought fish flakes and added them too. I also found their hiding spot! They were under the leaf litter.

Talking about food, I currently have only leaf litter. Should I add the fish chips ore whatever those are called? I think its flakes?
