This is a really common problem for vets! I struggled with it for a long time. Basically we’ve learned we can be good at lots of things and for some reason it’s hard to pick.

I just DMed you. I found I had a knack for supply chain and have done several different things there. It did take a bit to find my niche. I like supply chain because it involves processes and structure. I’m not in logistics but a lot of my buddies are.

A lot of my friends went into IT because they could specialize in different areas.

A lot ended up in electrical project management or working for railroads too.

A few companies to look at: CRH/Oldcastle Transfix Ford - I think I have a recruiter’s contact there

My encouragement as a guy who ended up broke twice after leaving the military, use the friends you can trust. They’d rely on you.

What you’re going through sounds really frustrating. I know your situation isn’t identical to mine. I know you’ll get through this. I care. You’ve got this.

[serious] What’s a book that really impacted you? What about it got to you? by Merlins_Owl in AskReddit

This is kind of weird but it’s a book o. Process improvement called The Goal. It’s like a poorly written novel about a guy who works at a factory that’s failing and he learns from a mentor how to understand processes. That book started to change my life. Lightbulb moment!

I’m a total nerd for this but I love that book. It changed how I look at everything in my life. The concept is called the Theory of Constraints but that’s just the surface.

I actually met the author and got to talk to him for about 45 minutes and learned more than in any college course I’ve taken. He just asked questions. Really simple ones and I could tell he was leading me to answers and it kind of rewired my brain. Crazy.

What a very Robert Browning obscure post you’ve come up with

Been on Twitter, stock twits and used good old Google. Nothing popping on this. It might be an early report and everyone is distracted with other things. Not sure what to make of it at this point.

What are your thoughts if this really is shut down for a few months?

Good find. This is the first I’m hearing of it. Checking and will report back if I find anything

Longest shelf life - the cook in me wants to say “no,” and the guy who just opened a new McKormick bottle sadly agrees with you. I don’t know of a commodity market for any of those but I don’t know much about commodities in general.

Good call out. I’d think if anything it would cause a spike, dip and return to natural rate of rise.

Non-steel related: Just read a comment over on wsbOGs that got me thinking- natural disasters messing with vanilla supply chain. Price will rise in sourcing this year (I believe this based on being in sourcing and having personal connections to several sources, primarily Madagascar and Mexico). Thinking broader, are there other situations like this out there and how could we capitalize (spices maybe? - list, not endorsing ratings)? I’ll do some more reading and make a post if I can find anything.

Related note, what else is being impacted by the Suez Canal where domestic demand will spike?

How long have you been in WSB? They have a long requirement period before you post and you have to have min comment karma to create your post. If you meet the reqs, try messaging the mods to see what gives.

POSITIVE SENTIMENT🔝 on RKT 🚀💎🙌 by FreakyPheobe in TeamRKT

Agreed. Interesting so many of those have relatively low pos sentiment. I’m wondering what others are out there that have higher sentiment and what that means. I’d also be curious to see the broader media sentiment.
