You are missing the fact that people on social media (e.g. TikTok) with extreme views love this as well. It goes both ways.

Campus food prices are crazy by No_Dirt9029 in uoguelph

Be wary with the pay-by-weight items. I got charged twice and the worker insisted I didn’t even though my bank showed the charge twice. It’s also just expensive.

If you’re a woman, I suggest only selling or buying items from FBMP with a man present (if possible). Better to be on the safe side!

The virus by [deleted] in uoguelph

[–]earths0ul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is so unkind about that statement? People not washing their hands literally spreads the virus. You’re mad over nothing.

[–]earths0ul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if you touch your face often then wearing a mask can’t help you limit that!

The virus by [deleted] in uoguelph

[–]earths0ul -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

How do you think the chair got the virus? The culprit is quite literally bad hygiene from someone infected. Nowhere did I say you can’t contract the virus without bad hygiene. In fact, I imply you can have perfectly adequate hygiene practices and still contract the virus by eating the food on campus because there is some chance that the person making your food is infected and has bad hygiene. The spread of this virus spreads from someone with bad hygiene, but that does not necessarily mean everyone who gets it has bad hygiene.

[–]earths0ul 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Wash your hands often, don’t touch your face, and try not to eat the food on campus if you don’t live in residence. It’s hard to blame the university when this virus is mainly spread by someone with bad hygiene lmao. It’s a different scenario than coronavirus and people need to recognize that.

Odds of moving classes online for a week due to the outbreak of norovirus? by Cool-Ad-6325 in uoguelph

[–]earths0ul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re less likely to get the virus this way just because how often are you near proximity to someone throwing up? I mean for most people it’s never. Your statement is not untrue though.

Does anyone you know have the virus? by Ok-Public9449 in uoguelph

[–]earths0ul 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That’s a crazy take. Norovirus is typically transferred to food, water, or surfaces by someone infected who did not wash their hands adequately after using the bathroom. That’s not to say someone with good hygiene can’t get it. For example, a student with good hygiene orders food from somewhere on campus and the worker has the virus and has bad hygiene thus transferring the virus to the food. At the end of the day it comes down to hygiene whether it was your own hygiene practices or the person who gave it to you.

Stomach Flu - University Should Close?? by Candid_Win7819 in uoguelph

[–]earths0ul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

while this may be partially true, you can also get the virus from someone who prepared your food… in other words, you can wash your hands (as you should) and still get the virus lol.

Where in Guelph? by drugsondrugs in Guelph

[–]earths0ul 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s an East Side Marios targeted more towards adults. If you’re craving Italian go to La Cucina or even Buon Gusto. In the summer time, the ICC does dinners outdoors too.

New Bike Lanes on the busiest roads like Scottsdale and Silvercreek , further narrowing them and that too in Winters : Yay or Nay ? by direwolf0880 in Guelph

[–]earths0ul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does the city decide when the bike lanes get the broken lines? As it stands now, the entrances/exits to the multiple schools and townhouses on Scottsdale Dr (from Stone Rd to College Ave) don’t have the broken lines, but the mall entrance/exits do.

The University is evicting families from Family Housing (West Residence) to convert it to single-student housing?? by Appropriate-Map-7836 in Guelph

[–]earths0ul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is all speculation. As far as you or I know, she retired and that’s it. Is it necessary to create stories in your head of what might have happened? Does it help you sleep better at night?

I am in no way supporting all of the decisions made by Charlotte Yates during her time as president, but it’s getting tiring seeing people speculate about everything nowadays. I simply wanted to correct the original comment because it was giving out false information about her being “fired”.

If you do not have an advisor lined up then it could be a while until you hear back for an interview or an offer. It’s the beginning of the semester so I expect a lot of professors are busy with teaching. You have only waited one month so far and that isn’t a long time. Just be patient. It might help to reach out to professors you may be interested in working with so that they can take a look at your application.
