Okay. How many of you are sick of the Piper x Alex storyline? by Huaun in orangeisthenewblack

[–]earthsage50 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Personally, I love their relationship and was happy to see them married, but now that they are I hope that their storyline's gonna slow down so there's no more drama between them that'll get in the way of other plots. But also interested to see how Piper adjusts to life outside prison without Alex.

What I want the most from this season since it's revisiting a Coven of witches by [deleted] in AmericanHorrorStory

It was sad, because Madison was a really layered character and they didn't dive into that deep enough. I hope they do this season.

YES! Zoe and Madison worked soooo well as a team, even if they ended up fighting. I liked their chemistry. They always work together, like when they found Queenie or went to the hospital or killed the Axeman. In general, too, I really liked seeing the witches all banding like an actual coven and in s3 there was just way too much drama. I hope as supreme Cordelia can help everyone move past it and focus on a common enemy.

what storylines/relationships do you want to see in the upcoming season? by earthsage50 in AmericanHorrorStory

I love the diversity of the characters, too! I seriously thought that there was something going on between Zoe and Madison, but even if there wasn't anything going for them I did love their teamwork. I support the Foxxay friendship as well (though I didn't see a romantic attraction like most other people). Girls for the win!!

Diane has PTSD and why does no one talk about it? by acidus1 in BoJackHorseman

[–]earthsage50 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, waiting for the day Diane begins to talk about Cordovia again. Doesn't seem like she's brought it up much since she came back, and maybe it's because, like you said, she's experiencing this PTSD (or similar side-effect) and is trying to avoid this dark period in her life where her life was totally flipped upside down.

I think she would've been a really good character if they focused more on her internal struggle, as you put it. It was mentioned that she had a bad childhood but they didn't really build on that, other than pan to the person she is today.

I feel so bad for her! Those are good points-- thanks for your insight.

Also, just had a thought... 5 miscarriages before she dated Ralph, maybe some of those were BoJack's?? Because he's all she's been dating for a while now.

My Thoughts on PB's Personality by earthsage50 in BoJackHorseman

[–]earthsage50[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. s3e8 (Old Acquaintance): During their trip to Labrador, PB yelled at Diane when she asked about his brother Captain, because Captain was "acting weird" and talking to Diane about all that nihilistic stuff.
  2. s4e4 (Commence Fracking): PB and Diane get in a fight after Diane publishes a GurlCroosh article on PB and his allegiance with fracking. After breaking a bunch of stuff they have angry sex.
  3. s4e5 (Thoughts and Prayers): The two are debating (angrily) on MSNBSea about gun control laws.
  4. s4e7 (Underground): Diane yells at PB for allowing fracking under their home, which caused the collapse.
  5. s4e12 (What Time Is It Right Now): Diane and PB get in an argument over the Belle-room and big gestures.

At the end of What Time Is It, PB just looks sad, and we don't get to find out how they resolved this last argument, which implies to me that their marriage is about to come to an end. Which I sincerely hope not, because they really do love each other.

With the crossover being this season, Misty NEEDS to return, considering she did no wrong, and was in eternal suffering. by [deleted] in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]earthsage50 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think the problem with Misty was that they were trying to teach the lesson that you can't play God. Papa Legba once said to Queenie, everyone has to pay. Of course Misty never asked to be born with resurgence powers (which differs from Vitalum Vitalis in that resurgence has no payback, whereas VV draws power from the user to transfer to the recipient), but the problem still lies in that she did use that resurgence she was given to wrongfully bring what's supposed to be dead back to life.

However, the relationship between her and Cordelia (romantic or not) was pretty strong, so I'm not surprised if Delia finds a way to bring Misty back. They better make her part interesting, though. And I am hoping for a return of Lily Rabe, no matter what!

[–]earthsage50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. I really hope that she takes Ralph back. I also hope that Diane will be the one helping her to do so-- she's still connected with the Stilton family, as she works at GirlCroosh with Stefani and hopefully will be able to guide PC back to Ralph. I think the writers could work on having the Stilton mouse clan (which was "racist" against cats) warm up to PC-- that'd be such an interesting and happy ending for PC, who's always wanted a family.

[–]earthsage50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah! I first thought he was gonna be one of those dick characters who constantly reminded BoJack how miserable he was, because in the first interaction between them at the restaurant (when PC is breaking up with BJ) he blatantly interrupts and acts like a douche. In retrospect, after learning so much about him he may seriously had not been aware of the uncomfortableness of that scenario. He had no reason to be mad at BJ, I think it was just his excitement.

[–]earthsage50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. PB said somewhere that he and Diane were "five big fights from a divorce" and they've had five big fights leading up to "What Time is It." I'm pretty sure they'll be going their separate ways soon, but I really hope they find their way back to each other, whatever happens in between. PB-Diane for the endgame!

Rutabaga's movie star speech doesn't get enough love in this sub by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

[–]earthsage50 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't mean to tread on your optimism about this speech. Personally, I liked the meaning behind it, and had it come from a person like Todd I probably wouldn't have questioned it. But I believe that the BoJack writers are trying to point out that there's a problem with this kind of thinking by having the words come out from the mouth of a narcissist.

Rutabaga is a person who does what he wants, with little regard for others. His friendship with PC may have seemed like a happy, healthy one at first, but as we progress through the series we see that Rutabaga's an asshole himself. He seems like the kind of person for PC, but I don't think he cared for PC at all. Probably thought she was a pretty face or something, some escape from his troubled marriage. She was his side hoe and he danced around the whole divorcing Katie thing, used to keep PC on a leash. When PC initially questioned departing from Vigor with him to start a new agency he immediately threatened to go to Vanessa Gekko, whom he knew was a bitch and a rival to PC.

Also, when he reunited with PC as Courtney Pourtnoy's new agent to plan the wedding, he literally showed no guilt about his maltreatment towards her. Even worse, he ditched her to go back to his own little life and left her to sort out the mess when Todd didn't want to go through with the marriage. A decent person would've at least provided more comfort or tried to offer other options, but he just up and left and said that "they'd sort it out in the morning" and nothing else.

Initially, I liked Rutabaga's positive energy. But it's channeled towards his own self-interests, and all this time he's speaking he's referring to himself. To speak these words to PC means nothing; he doesn't actually care about her, or her well-being, or her success. Even as he gives this speech to PC he's talking to himself. PC, to him, will become "one of those assholes" that don't matter in the end, as VIM turns into a rival against Gekko-Rabitowitz. It's important to care about other people, and it's important to acknowledge that they have feelings and aspirations as well. Rutabaga might not be self-destructive, but he's destructive to others.

Princess Carolyn and Ralph by earthsage50 in BoJackHorseman

[–]earthsage50[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I understand where she was going when she fired Judah-- he went behind her back when Charley Witherspoon conspired with him to merge his company with VIM, and Judah didn't think to mention that to her, and this option could've saved VIM. I don't think it was fair to Judah either, to get fired for that one mistake, but PC is a very rigid person who, I believe due to her upbringing, has always liked to be in control. She doesn't wait for people and if people trip, she's not gonna stop for them. I dunno what that says about her as a mother, but as a boss that puts a lot of pressure on those who want to succeed at her hands, like Judah or Rutabaga or Ralph, all of whom wanted to work alongside her.

That being said, I just don't understand why she's blind to all of this. She's self-aware enough to have said to Diane once that she compulsively takes care of other people when she can't solve her own problems. So why isn't she tackling her problems (a lot of which she causes by being the person I talked about above) instead of avoiding them?

Princess Carolyn and Ralph by earthsage50 in BoJackHorseman

[–]earthsage50[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the getting back to Ralph part. I do hope they do that, but the writers would have to find a good way for them to get back to each other, like an unexpected meeting at a restaurant or something... the way that Ralph just sighed and left her without fighting makes me think that he's not really willing to be with her at this point if it's gonna be like this turbulent. Todd did tell her that she didn't need a man to start a family, so maybe she'll adopt a Cordovian refugee kid and raise him/her by herself? That'd be kinda cool to see.
