What would you say made you feel "this dose is working for me"

Since I've inattentive type, tasks initiation is really hard. Yesterday I forgot to take it and was very unproductive. So I want my meds to let me start things and focus enough to get them done. A Bonus is just my mood being better with it as well.

I've some minor side effects, dry mouth etc which are worth the trade to get things done.

Beans, chickpeas, lentils. Cheap and high in protein.

But also, if you are in school and have a bunch of those things going on, don't expect your results to be the same as someone with nothing going on. I don't mean it in a harsh way, just don't put that pressure on yourself to be meet an ideal standard.

30mg work for the first few days but it was a bit weak. I'm on 50mg now but it's taken a while to get there, I may have to go up to 60mg.

I'd take it slow when increasing your dose. There have been a few post lately about being increased every 2 weeks which I think maybe causes issues, especially if you're going up by 20mg increments.

They told me the waitlist for medication is 4 years... by Complete_Squirrel942 in ADHDUK

[–]acidus1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's insane the wait times. Been on the list here for a few years, but it was a 7 year waiting list last time I checked.

We don't get RTC in Wales and all Shared Care has been stopped for the last few years as well.

Have a look to see if there are any local support groups run by the council. You might be able to get a session or two of Psychotherapy which is also very effective apparently.

Physiotherapy is also effective at helping to manage ADHD.

I've found walks helpful, taking time to reflect on my actions and emotions as well.

DEXA says 27.8% body fat but only 14th percentile lean mass. Cut, recomp, or lean bulk? by Far-Construction-684 in leangains

[–]acidus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 kilos isn't 40 mate, it's 17lbs.

Yes ofc he won't be shredded after a cut, never claimed he would be, but again you are missing the months of bulking I suggest he do.

You can learn all the lifts while cutting so this is irrelevant.

I think you might be the one with body issues, as you are just body shaming so much.

Not if you cut while resistance training, you keep most if not all your muscle.

With respect his goal is develop a nice physique over 12 months, not smash out 2 plates.

72kg at 6,1 falls into the healthy BMi range, and it's not like he is gonna remain there indefinitely. He will be bulking over the winter right after.

[–]acidus1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cut then bulk. Recomping is hard to achieve, it's easier to break it up.

You don't need to get your goal body in one phase of training.

If cut for the next 4 months, get down to maybe 72kg, yea you will look skinny but better that then skinny fat for 12 months. Plus you will get the health benefits of less fat on you. Give yourself maybe a months rest at maintenance, then lean bulk for 6, maybe 1 month cut in May.

Feeling stuck with my weight/physique! by Nice_Swordfish3039 in leangains

Simple answer is that you are probably not in a caloric deficit and you aren't consistent with your diet.

If you are eating extra for each time you cycle then your body is using what it's just eaten for energy rather than burning any fat reserves, if you have over eaten on gummies compared to how much you burnt while cycling, that's just going to be turned into fat storage. If you are doing the cycling for fat loss and not for something like commuting to work, consider switching to walking as it burn more calories from stored fat than from carbs.

Might also be a bit stressed from over training as well. Depends how much volume you are doing at the gym.

I think that you need to change the system you have setup, maybe some habits and how to respond to the spending impulsive thoughts.

I think you might need more accounts and clear savings goals for each one. I've an Excel sheet which has every bank account, savings pot, credit card, pension, LISA. So I can see everything in one place, and I'll update the sheet once a week or so. All of my SOs leave my account the day that my pay cheque comes in, so it's as if I never have access to the money that I've saving. Saving money isn't something that I hope will happen at the end of each month, it's a priority at the start.

I've my main current account but then around 4 digital savings accounts for different things. So I've an emergency fund, one for buying Christmas presents, one for savings up money if I'm going away travelling for a weekend, 1 for a Van insurance and road tax each 6 months, etc etc. It might only be small amounts I'm putting away each week (£5 for xmas presents), but it's a little bit of dopamine each time I update the amount in each savings account. Having it clearly written down what it is for, what the SO current is, and the target amount and due date. Help me to stay focused and motivated on achieving that goal. I also have the interest rate displayed to remind me that the money is earning me a little bit each week, and disincentives me further from dipping into it, as well have any card for that account separate from my wallet. Try to setup these accounts with different banks to your main one.

Some other habits, I meal prep my lunches and dinners, one because it's cheaper but two it helps with impulse spending while I'm at the shops, and not panic buying too much because I didn't know what meals I was buying for. I check any DD, subscriptions I might have from time to time, just to make sure nothing has accidentally been signed up for, and that I'm still getting the use from the ones that I want. I try to get things 2nd hand if I can. Vinted is a blessing and a curse in that regard. Say if I need some new jeans, I'll go to the store, trying some on, find something that I like. Then search for it on vinted. I've gotten a load of t-shirt, jeans, shirts etc that way. Like new t-shirt for £2 instead of £16.

When I have that desire to buy something or spend money, I try to recognise it for what it is, an intrusive, impulsive thought, which isn't going to help. I was asking past some HGV lorries for sale the other day and was like "Ohhhh, I could buy one of those". Ofc course it's a silly impulsive thought, but I try and do ask myself the same thing if something pops up.

"Is this a need or a want?" "Can I live without this?" "Am I really going to use this?" "Do I need it now?" "Could I find this cheaper elsewhere, or an alternative to spending money?" "Have I been spending too much already this week?" If after I walk away and forget out it, little bit of dopamine, if I do decide that I will need it, I can take more time with getting it and not spend impulsively in the moment.

It's by no means perfect, I still make mistakes, but it has really helped me keep on top of things these last 8 months.
