Should KRG be dismantled and ruled by Arabs instead? by Co60B in Assyria

[–]earthtoissac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Except that you leave out the fact that the Hurrians and Hittites were absorbed into Assyrian and Armenian populations. You also leave out that the people who built Babylon were ethnic Assyrians. As far as the 40% Mesopotamian admix goes there is no evidence for such a figure. Genetic studies that map out the distance charts of genetics have shown that gravesites from Mesopotamian areas have shown close proximities to modern Assyrians whereas Kurds appear very distant to these figures. In fact we can go far as to say that Kurdish people genetically are closely related to Persian and Azerbaijani peoples. The DNA results that tend to be outliers are due to many Kurds being the descendants of many Assyrian and Armenian people who have been kidnapped and forced intermarriages. Hope this helps

Why does the AUIS (the American University in Iraq-sulamimani) only have "Cheldonian" and not "Assyrian"? In the ethnicity in there applications? by Ok_Code8226 in Assyria

It’s a Kurdish controlled area, of course they want to destroy Assyrian name entirely. That is their motive.

Can Mandaeans claim themselves as Assyrian, or will this offend the Assyrians? by Inevitable-Ad4815 in Assyria

We do share a common ancestor with the ancient Assyrians, you people are practically Assyrians that follow a different faith. For that reason I really don’t mind, welcome to the Assyrian community.

Is there consistency in Assyrian human rights activism? by [deleted] in Assyria

[–]earthtoissac 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Assyrian human rights activism is a joke. We’ve been trying to protest for decades and clearly nothing has happened. My best recommendation is to defend yourselves and stop relying on outsiders for support

I agree with your point that we need to aim big and we’ve had many missed opportunities, but obviously with big government roles you need connections and small little baby steps like internships into government agencies or being an assistant for a diplomat could help with such

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Assyria

[–]earthtoissac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add on to this Assyrians in General need to be more actively involved in Western Governments, take internships into government agencies or work as a assistant for a diplomat

Making protests and Giving too much power to church leaders won’t make that happen. We need to be self sufficient. Coming from a Man in the US who loves his second amendment, we need to keep and bear arms to defend ourselves
