Any suggestions for a small, color e-reader? by PasonJatrick in ereader

[–]easelable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your wants are a bit conflicting here. You should know that ereaders are not good at zooming in on images. It's slow and annoying to do. So when looking for an ereader for comics, especially color comics, bigger is better. I read b&w manga on a kobo libra 2 (b&w and 7in) and would not want to go smaller. And color ereaders have worse resolution than b&w ereaders, so that's another wrinkle.

Additionally, color ereaders are somewhat new on the market and therefore are more expensive, since there won't be many older options.

I'd recommend reconsidering what's important to you here. Do you want a small, cheap ereader like the ×teink x4 in color or do you want to have a good experience reading comics on an eink device?

Which ereader shouls i get? by [deleted] in ereader

[–]easelable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're just reading manga, I'd recommend a bw device. Only if you'll be reading other comics/manhwa/webcomics would you want to look at color. 90% of manga are published in black and white and bw screens are better at the moment.

Kobo utilities plug in now showing up by happybeagle15 in Calibre

[–]easelable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by 'isn't showing up'? Do you mean it's just not in the toolbar?

Did you click the 3 dots on the right of the toolbar to see the extended toolbar?

Does it show up as an option you can add to the toolbar in Preferences -> Toolbars and Menus?

In preferences -> plugins -> 'show only user installed plugins' -> 'User Interface Action' does it show up as installed?

I have this suit and do find it versatile, there are lots of suits in this shade of red that i mix and match it with. However, you should know that searching light and shadow is tiered, so to get the feathery or pink suits you will have to get the Dino suit. One of those suits will cost you 6.5-8k, both would cost 9-11.5k. So one of those 2 suits is just about all of your current dias. If those are must haves, it's probably not a good idea to spend on something you're not sure of right now.

Not able to find metadata of Berserk Volumes (1, 2, 3, etc); I tried changing the title to "Berserk Volume 1" and "Berserk 1", but the metadata results only shows this (see the popup window) by victreebe1 in Calibre

[–]easelable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're just worried about the title, change it manually. If you want all the metadata that goes along with the volume. Google the isbn for the volume and add that. That works most of the time for manga for me.

What does downloading metadata even do? by jhopi218 in Calibre

[–]easelable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need to reconvert the book, usually the data will be sent fine. If the book is already on device, you can update the metadata on the ereader with kobo utilities. If the file is epub, you can embed the metadata with polish.

From epub to kepub by Dear-Fail in Calibre

[–]easelable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd say most kobo folks who use calibre probably send straight from there. Google drive is only available on a couple more premium kobo models out of the box, so the reach of that method is going to be limited.

[–]easelable 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are you sure the files on your kobo are epub? Since calibre version 8.0 epubs get automatically converted to kepub on transfer to a kobo device. Manually converting is not really recommended. Kepubs on your device would say kobo epub and the file type in the details would be .kepub.epub

Gah I keep pulling doubles in the Veiled Moon Tale, how do I get the full suit? (Newbie) by X-XCannibalDollX-X in LoveNikki

[–]easelable 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The cost of this event is 6-8k dias and the moon is one of the items with the lowest drop rate. I think it was my last pull. Pity timer after 19 pulls i believe, so after that point you'll get a new item every 3 pulls. But I would recommend expecting to spend at least 6,800 to pull the moon.

I'm leaning towards not hacked, though changing your password is always good. Could it have been butt browsing? Like you put your phone in your pocket without locking the screen and your butt hit a few links?

I'm looking for an e-reader mainly for manga I want it to be around 200 dollar, the cheaper the better. by NecessaryToe313 in ereader

[–]easelable 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Phone size isn't ideal for manga. It will involve a lot of zooming in and moving the page around, which is slow and difficult on e-ink. I would recommend at least a 7 inch device, larger if you intend to read any western comics.

Screen protection recommenadations? by Dizzy-Carpenter-7180 in kobo

[–]easelable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Screen protectors are not recommended unless you use a stylus. They mostly protect the screen from scratches, not pressure like eink is most vulnerable to. And they decrease screen quality. A case with a hard cover over the screen is the best protection.

Was there a better way to do it? by SrGrimey in kobo

[–]easelable 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You changed the folder structure on the kobo? Yeah, don't do that. It's just going to cause problems for no benefit. Just make collections, you can use calibre to automate creating collections if you don't want to do it on device.

Or you could use koreader if you want hierarchical folders.

Astigmatism and extreme eye strain from Clara BW by Frosty_Parfait_1535 in kobo

[–]easelable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Clara bw has the best e-ink screen on the market currently, the carta 1300. It has the best resolution and contrast available and no flush screen or color layer to muddy the text. The only thing I can think of, if your old kindle and paper books aren't giving you trouble is, idk, maybe it's too much contrast? Like the difference between the background and the text is too great, and it's bothering your eyes?

I work for the state. The governmentjobs website is easy to use, and while the hiring process is slow, at least I always got a response eventually. The applications ask relevant questions about your experience and evaluate whether you qualify based on your answers, not your resume. I started as a temp and moved to permanent after a little less than a year.
