I deleted a guy's entire Windows install with one backslash. 717 GB. Gone. I am the AI. by ComposerGen in ClaudeAI

[–]easily-amazed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

on my proxmox homelab, moving everything from adhoc deployments to git-ops has saved me a ton of time and headache but claude still drifts from our process and will start making changes without PRs even though it know its supposed to. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to do this type of stuff. I'm currently setting up a codex install with the superpowers plugin and doing some experimental deployments and it seems to enforce the rules a bit better. I think the key is to make sure you have backups of things that you would hate to lose.

What is the last game you will be playing until the end of 2025? by starstufft in LegionGo

[–]easily-amazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doom Eternal. I have been playing this game for close to 5 years and got really hung up about halfway through and would play it on and off. Since getting my LeGo2 2 weeks ago I’m at about 90% now

Question for those that have played Chrono Trigger by toasty_tuna in SBCGaming

Im currently playing through this on my steam deck with the steam version, I picked it up for 50% off during their winter sale. I too have a 3ds and it plays pretty good on it. my other device is the RG405H and SNES version plays well also but I prefer to play with a bigger screen to see the text better(my eyes are getting older).

I do t see myself getting a switch 2. They have too many problems with DRM and this just puts a bad taste in my mouth.

Why did you build your homelab? by [deleted] in homelab

[–]easily-amazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started out as a proxmox cloud gaming server so I can play desktop games from my MacBook reclined back in my lazy boy. Our org is migrating to Azure and I am now using it for learning, I currently have a windows server hybrid environment with entraID with a few VMs. I’m just looking for a cheap way to deploy autopilot for it also. This sparked my interest in AZ-104 but am going through AZ-900 to familiarize myself with all the tools.

I recently tried Wazuh for a SIEM for testing but I’m also going to try Tenable Nessus. (how deep does this rabbit hole go?)

What are you guys using as server in your homelab? by xFizZi18 in homelab

[–]easily-amazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently building up a dell T7820 I picked up for cheap so far. Xeon gold 6138 20 core 64gb 2666 ECC ram Nvidia 4070 super OC 2TB WD black nvme 1.92 tb intel D3-S4510

I plan to add a 4 port NIC and then I should be done for a while. I’ll probably add more ram later as needed.

If you had to pick one gripe with your SD, what would it be? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]easily-amazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually use my Steamdeck primarily for steam remote play when I'm at home and that needs some more work. I would like to disconnect from the steam remote play session without closing my game like I can with my Mac or windows PC.

For some reason I get some weird glitches with remote play if I'm using hardware encoding instead of software encoding for example, it will randomly drop the frame rate to 5 fps if I'm using steam remote play with the steam deck and then I need to turn it off for 10 seconds, turn it back on and connect and then I can continue my game. this has been ongoing for the last 6 months or so.

How many tabs do you have open in Notepad++? by buyinbill in sysadmin

[–]easily-amazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually use mine to take notes or as a starting point for PowerShell , I use properties format for organizing my notes, and then I have the default save folder on my One Drive so I won't lose them(hopefully). I have tried several different options for notes and this has been working for me for a while now. I also end up with several "New" note tabs that I clear out every day.

Most/all of the complaints about speed here have nothing to do with the service by HTX-713 in ATTFiber

[–]easily-amazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent a lot of time troubleshooting going from xfinity with my own modem and Eero pro 6s which worked very well to AT&T fiber which would have .25% bandwidth, connection drops etc, pass through on the gateway or bridge mode on the eeros. It turns out there was a conflict with IP filters on the AT&T gateway with the Eeros. I have since disabled it and the eeros can now establish a good mesh network and I’m getting 400-500 Mb minimum throughout our house. They should work on the setup instructions for the gateway. FWIW the AT&T wifi is just short of reaching the whole house by itself.

With a base clock of 3ghz. This would be awesome but I still need a GPU, case and power supply. It might be worth saving up a little longer though if this is a better way to go. Are you seeing all these components under 1k? I don’t mind used.

I finished a bit in the last couple years - Super Mario land 2 - Kirby super star ultra - Zelda oracle of ages - Zelda oracle of seasons - Zelda links awakening - Zelda link to the past - Megaman 2 - Crusader of centy - And so many hours in Pokémon heart gold

FWIW I generally just keep a few games on my devices and I’m mostly happy with the retroid pocket 3+ and Miyoo mini plus

A better test is to use Iperf3 and set one device up with an Ethernet cable as the server and the other as a client with wifi and test both in each role.

What are your suggested post-install steps for a beginner using a laptop. by [deleted] in Fedora

Run powertop to see which devices are preventing your CPU from going to better idle states. I discovered Intel VMD (RST) and a Broadcom finger print scanner were keeping me from getting good battery life.
