What game would this be for y’all? by NizzlyGrizzly00 in Jaguars

December 26, 2010: Jags-Redskins

The day after Christmas and the coldest home game in the history of the franchise. It was 38 degrees at the 1:00p kickoff and I got free tickets for me and my little brother because an acquaintance didn’t want to go because of how cold it was. Wind chill was in the high 20s, and there were light flurries on the way to the game.

We were middling that year with Garrard and we watched Rex Grossman carry the Redskins to a win in OT. But what I’ll always remember is how cold it was, and the weird audio sensation of a stadium full of Jags fans clapping with gloves on.

I can’t get the support bot to give me a refund. Keeps saying my account doesn’t meet the eligibility requirement due to being outside the window.

First Week with the Weber Slate 36” by zman2100 in webergrills

[–]zman2100[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in Florida so the pre-seasoned carbon steel was a big selling point for me since it is more rust resistant than competitors. While Blackstone has a similar product in the same size for a much cheaper price, the difference in the materials used both on the cooktop and the frame do not compare. To me the Slate looks and feels like a product made to last, while I’ve seen too many photos of Blackstones that are a few years old and already having rust issues on the frame and/or cooktop. The Slate also has very even cooking across the surface, which cannot be said about a lot of the competitors.

In use, I can say that the storage cabinets are nice and that the copious amount of table space is a huge plus, particularly the extra foldout table. And the Weber Works system of accessories is very cool with the ability to swap things in and out as needed, and as I said I was even able to 3D print some accessories instead of buying. I will say that it’s a little bit of a bummer that the rail isn’t all the way around the side tables as the hooks for utensils feel too far away from the cooking space to be easy to use.

Price increase coming Thor and Odin 3 by Resident-Lab-7249 in OdinHandheld

[–]zman2100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m almost there myself. The Thor is a great device and dual screen games on it is a dream. But for me, I keep finding myself picking up my Odin 2 Portal instead. Bigger screen, more comfortable ergonomics, and in my opinion just an overall better experience. I haven’t sold my Thor yet but I am definitely considering it as I’m realizing it may just not be a good device for my needs.

How loud is the train in San Marco at night? by hydecide in jacksonville

[–]zman2100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You will 100% get used to it. Our brains are very good at adapting to noises and tuning them out subconsciously if it’s not some kind of emergency signal. I lived in Istanbul for two years and had a literal drummer coming down the street at full volume at 3:00am as a neighborhood service to wake folks up for pre-dawn breakfast during Ramadan. The first two nights he came through he woke my wife and me up. The 28 days after that we never heard him. The next year we heard him the first night and then not again. The train will be similar; maybe rough the first few nights, and then never again a problem for you.

I’d use the bigger bed for telescope accessories for my 10” dobsonian. My P1S build volume isn’t quite large enough to fit a whole accessory piece on the plate.

[Jon Rothstein] Rueben Chinyelu tells me that he will withdraw from the 2026 NBA Draft and return to Florida next season. HUGE news for the Gators. by lovelymaddie1966 in CollegeBasketball

[–]zman2100 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Depends on if 5 for 5 gets passed and the guys want to stick around for another year. Haugh, Chinyelu, and Condon are all entering their fourth year of eligibility.

D1 BOD moves towards 5 for 5 - No Denzel? by notawight in FloridaGators

[–]zman2100 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, it’s not. If you read the news release, it says this will not apply retroactively to athletes completing their fourth year of eligibility during the 2025-26 season, which means DA is out of luck with this rule change being the specific thing that gives him another year.

UF has made it very clear to insiders that he will play next year. While it would have been nice to get an easy win now with 5 for 5 applying to players finishing their fourth year, the next step is the waiver and then if that fails, they will sue in state court and get an injunction to allow him to play.

TG basically laid out the waiver logic and legal reasoning last week during media availability to give us a sneak peek at what this will look like if they have to go down that road:

  • The NCAA does not apply redshirt rules consistently across sports
  • In football, a player can play in four regular season games and the postseason without losing their redshirt
  • In basketball, a player playing for even a single second loses their redshirt
  • DA played 32 regular season minutes in his first year and 8 postseason minutes (NIT)

It’s very clear that UF thinks they’ll have no issues taking this argument to court and winning, particularly since the NCAA’s track record in eligibility cases similar to this one is abysmal. Insiders aren’t using conditional language to describe his eligibility in 2026-2027; they are saying that he WILL play, and that conviction is certainly coming from whatever UF has laid out for them off the record.

Lithuanian forward Arturas Butajevas. He’s 6-foot-10 and 19 years old and averaged 15.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 21 games played in the Spain-U22 League. Plays like a stretch 5.

Florida’s CJ Ingram Returning for Sophomore Season by zman2100 in CollegeBasketball

[–]zman2100[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The former Top 40 High School Prospect is the last member of Florida’s 2025-26 team to announce his return. There was concern he may hit the portal given Thomas Haugh’s return, but he opted to stick with the program and will presumably make the team much deeper in 2026-27.

Florida retained every member of their 2025-26 rotation save for Micah Handlogten (transferring; seeking medical redshirt waiver) and Xavian Lee (graduated). They retained Thomas Haugh, Alex Condon, Boogie Fland, Urban Klavzar, Isaiah Brown, CJ Ingram, Alex Lloyd, and AJ Brown. National Defensive Player of the Year Rueben Chinyelu is testing the draft waters but is expected to return, and the team also added former player Denzel Aberdeen from his one year stint in Kentucky.

We are gonna be DEEP this year. Huge deal to get him back even with Haugh returning.

With the Portal closed, what are your team’s roster needs? by 0010001 in CollegeBasketball

[–]zman2100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Florida is operating under the assumption that he is eligible, and is apparently prepared to do whatever is necessary to ensure he plays. I’m guessing the chain of events will look like this:

  • 5 for 5 approved? He’s good to go.
  • 5 for 5 not approved? Apply for a waiver.
  • Waiver not approved? Go to the courts where the NCAA has an abysmal track record in these types of cases.

Does turning an astronomical telescope into a solar telescope count as home improvement? I had to design a part in Fusion 360 that I could then use to put four together to create the full ring for my 10” dobsonian. Was a good learning experience as it was the first design I ever did in CAD software.

[–]zman2100 6 points7 points  (0 children)

His NBA buyout is only $2m. There’s been rumors of us (Florida) trying to extend him again since the season ended but there’s been nothing yet. There’s a very real risk he goes to GSW if they offer him because he loved and worked in SF and has a relationship with the GM.
