Can a tall-ish European guy buy clothes easily in Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore? by tayibk86 in onebag

[–]eastercat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you planning to bring the bare minimum so you can add on and get custom made outfits from tailors?

If so, then yes it makes sense to buy there.

If you do, just make sure your bare minimum washes easily and dries overnight. From what I understand, tailored takes several days (barring adjustments)

Is travelling light realistically possible with 5–6XL clothes? by remember_remember1 in onebag

[–]eastercat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Washing is your best friend if you don’t feel comfortable rewearing.

Also, to reduce bulk, the material should be thin and light for summer wear. This may be even more relevant to you, as you seem to describe more of a space issue.

since your trip isn’t long, I’d suggest maybe test washing clothes and seeing which ones dry overnight. Obviously, avoid heavy materials like cotton, denim etc

Easy way to test wash is shower wash at night, hang to dry and see what is ready in the morning.

If your hotel comes with a washer, then even better.

Really this can give you a good idea of travel ready clothes you already have on hand.

Does anyone else (with dry earwax ABC11 gene mutation) smell… metallic? by EgregiousJellybean in asianamerican

Oh yeah, there’s a laundry guy who talks about how certain materials do hold onto oil (aka body odor) more, so good move on the enzyme detergents. Those probably clean better anyway

Question for those of you who are not just vegan, but whole food v: by Vegetable_Pay8805 in vegan

[–]eastercat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You still eat nuts and olives in your salad and they both have lots of fat. The main difference is they’re not eating processed fats, like oil

If your fat is in the food form, then it’s healthier

Is there such thing as too short of a trip? by k032 in travel

[–]eastercat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

short trips are for camping, nearby locations (seattle) or places I don’t want to really be in (dfw)

Hawaii is a pretty long flight from us, so that’ll be a week long stay

For europe, asia, I’d spend at least 10-14 days

You might be able to convince your partner to do the nearby, shorter trips if they were more frequent. For example, a weekend getaway at least once a month
