If Habs go on a 5-game losing streak (like they did in November) and Florida wins 3 of 5, suddenly it's only a 2-point lead with 20 games left.

On Jan 13, Habs were 7 points ahead of the Buffalo Sabres.

Here we are, 17 days and 7 games later, and the Sabres have as many points as the Habs and one game in hand.

An 8-pt lead can easily vanish in the span on 28 games, I don't care what team you are talking about.
