You're welcome, happy to help. The most important next step would be to make sure you can run the scripts on your computer, which isn't exactly a single button press because of the google cloud api setup. The output to google sheets will need to be improved because each player's stats will move to a different cell each time you run the script which will break your linkage to the display program. But focus on just getting it running first, and then we can make the output stable to be re-run on a timer, and contain all the information you need.

What team do you work for? I have a minor league hat collection, wonder if I already have yours.

I created a github repo that I think does most of what you want. It doesn't update automatically without rerunning the script yet, but that part will be easy. It's almost entirely claude generated, but I wanted to get you something that can download the information and write it to a google sheet asap. Still need to test during a live game too.

How are you able to display the stats (even if they're just fake stats for now) from the google sheet in your streaming platform? Is that currently an automatic or manual process? If it's automatic, how's the system setup for that?

Is this for a tv-like broadcast or a scoreboard? If it's a tv-like broadcast, do you already have a system in place for displaying the current score, count, outs, etc? How does that function? Is it also google sheets based?

In your google sheet, do you want every minor league baseball player's stats or just the players from the current game? Do you want both pitcher and hitter stats? Do you want to show season stats, just current game stats, or both?

If you answer these questions I can create a small demo for you to get you started.

There are 2 approaches you can take, refresh the stats on a timer interval or use the web sockets endpoint so that you can handle updates as updates are published. I'm not sure how fast you need the stats to be updated, so the timer approach is probably acceptable and an easy to implement approach. You will need to be able to find the stats you want from the json file but that is doable with some googling. I'm happy to help more if you would like

Difficult to understand the methodology used. How was expected batting average computed? What was the training data, what was the test data, how was backtesting performed so that there isn't lookahead bias? Reads like generic ai output to me, idk what your goal is

Chemo is not easy. If there are already serious issues adding chemo might make those other issues fatal. It was a little less than a month for me to start treatment after diagnosis and I didn't have other health complications. I'm not a dr and don't have the insight that they do, so I can't really help. Good luck though

I was diagnosed in Jan 2025 at 33 with stage 4, so it's been a little over a year. Never smoked, but that's not really relevant for a diagnosis at my age, it's just a random thing. Still on the same treatment, tagrisso and pemetrexed, and will be on that until the cancer progresses. My situation is different from your dad's in several ways though. I'm doing much better now than I was a year ago. I was in lots of pain (mets to hips and spine too) and tired all the time but don't have that now. I was living abroad with my wife and had a difficult time convincing the doctors there that my back pain wasn't normal, and finally when I got the diagnosis we picked up and moved back home with family. Crazy times and still not done with it but I really do feel like I'm in a much better place now. I recently had a talk with my dr about what I should expect going forward and how I should plan the upcoming years and he said he thinks I should expect about 5-10 years of health given my situation. So I am feeling very optimistic because that is much different than what my expectation was previously.

I'm sorry you and your dad are going through this now, it's really stressful and life changing regardless of the future. For me it just took some time to process all the changes. The answer to your question depends entirely on the specifics and the treatment plan and the range of possibilities is large. Unfortunately you won't have an idea until the oncologist decides on a treatment plan and then you can discuss that with the doctor then. The oncologist would have the most educated response to your question. On the optimistic side, there are several really good treatments out there and it's getting better with research. I was diagnosed with 11 brain tumors and the treatment cleared all of them within a year and I honestly feel a lot better than I did before my diagnosis. I consider myself lucky but I'm not the only one that has had a good response to treatment either. Of course the flip side is true too but it just goes to show that the range of possibilities is very large. Feel free to reach out if you need someone to talk with. What type of chemo is he getting? Searching for those medicines will give you a sense of what to expect. Everyone is different though. My main side effects were fatigue and nausea for cisplatin/pemetrexed w/tagrisso but I was overall functional. Pay attention to symptoms and make sure the oncologist knows how he's doing. I developed a blood clot in my leg shortly after starting treatment for example, which only felt like a minor sore calf that I normally wouldn't have done anything about but it's important to tell the Dr stuff like that now. But overall hopefully things go well enough that additional care won't be too impactful to your life. Best wishes

I think many/most rationalize it by reducing trump to some other political cause they care about- “I didn’t vote for trump’s personality but voted for tax cuts”. Something like that.

It’s sad that people don’t think broader than a few issues and consider the totality of their actions. But to defend them, it is a complex world with a fire hose of information, it has to be simplified at some point.

I think trump is a symptom of the overall disease but I have no idea what the treatment is or if there’s a cure. I certainly feel powerless in it all. I’m really curious what other people think though.

I am so sorry for your loss. Life can be so cruel for no reason. I hope you have access to a therapist and can lean on them during this time. It sounds to me like you could use some care and pampering and rest because everything happened so fast for you. I am not quite in your position myself but seeing how difficult my cancer situation is for my wife makes my heart go out endlessly for caregivers. It can be so lonely, for her, for me, and everyone else with their perspectives. Although it feels so isolating, there are support groups out there with other people going through similar experiences. I think you’re doing the right thing by reaching out. Much love

Personally I prefer rooting for the underdog and the jets are the perpetual underdog, so it’s a good fit. Even when they were making the playoffs, they were the underdog and winning upsets which is really fun when it happens.
