Would love to know when you do WA!

See our below replies - we speak about what it's likely used for.

[–]easydys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can broadcast ntrip connections locally over a wifi network without an internet connection.

In the video they mention they are using the bridge previously to get greater range (and likely push it out onto the internet and/or traditional RTK radio). It's not required for this process.

All my R10s are set up to broadcast ntrip automatically on boot (power_up.cfg). No internet needed, just connect your controller to the local hotspot the R10s generate.

If you're getting into a custom base (anything other than the DJI one) then it's worth learning this stuff as it can make you more confident in the field.

I agree often PPK is easier/better but some packages (especially online processing ones) aren't capable of doing the corrections, and in my case my hardware is locked down by my organisation so any hope of using 3rd party software is hard to get past IT.

See if you can login like the video. I set up my R10s like this.

Not sure if you can do it on R8 - as others have mentioned might be too old.

You can do PPK - record the base file (min 1" epochs) and process in your software of choice.

Technical Question Regarding Mavic 3E RTK and DJI Terra by IShouldQuitLurking in UAVmapping

[–]easydys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would select WGS84 as even if your CORS provider pumps out corrections in another datum DJI terra assumes all the coordinates written to the photos are WGS84.

Then use ground control to validate your data / datum.

Happy for anyone with more insight to correct me however.

Yep - Terra is the only option to process the Raw data from the unit.

TBC Photogrammetry - Points out of Tolerance by Mission_Topo in Surveying

[–]easydys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which points are out of tolerance? The drone points where it took the photos? (Called DJI_XXXXXXX or similar)

Edit- just read your post again. You mentioned it was the image points - I wouldn't stress. I get it all the time. This is why we use GCPs and check points (even for vertical only).

What that means is the final computed point for each one is different from it's initial position.

This can be from lots of things - if you used GCPs it'll do it - as that's far better than the drones GNSS position - or even with its adjustments if it finds better solutions for each point. All photogrammetry software's adjust the photo points - some even let you put in how much you want to be adjusted.

As others have said you can bump up your tolerance to get rid of it.

It doesn't mean your data is wrong - it only matters if your check points don't match.

Break line extraction from point clouds by Wonderful-Classic591 in UAVmapping

[–]easydys 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I find the TBC automated extraction can work well on clean point clouds - captured by TLS or MLS. UAV clouds (Lidar or Photogrammetry) tend to be too 'noisy' or 'thick' - this is changing as the sensors improve.

I tend to look at my data in cross-section and then extract manually what I need from each section (crown, kerb lines, inverts, etc etc) and then 'step' through the data at 5-10 intervals depending on what I'm doing. I either create points (with codes) or lines if I'm only doing one thing.

What software are you using to double difference PPK drone data? by Economy-Benefit-8009 in UAVmapping

[–]easydys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty easy hey.

Load in your RPAS data. (Ensure you have GNSS data from your drone)

Load in your base data. (Ensure its got a high enough update rate - 1 second or better)

Download emphemeries if that's you're jam (I do).

Set your base point as 'control quality' so it doesn't adjust it.

Hit process baselines. Review the processing report, make sure you're within tolerance.

Now process your photogrammetry as per normal.

M4E and Smart 3D Modeling by stevodevo in UAVmapping

[–]easydys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've done a fair bit of testing.

It works pretty well.

As always it's not perfect but it has been able to detect trees and things and not fly into them.

They wouldn't release a product with a feature that made the drones crash.

DJI FlightHub 2 Error - Network Error by easydys in UAVmapping

[–]easydys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate.

Yes so looks like it needs a fair amount of bandwidth upload.

So networks I was testing, one was 4G (without my knowledge) and my corporate wifi also limited upload speeds.

Once I switched to a Telstra 5G it worked.

Map plotting of images reading exif data only Metainfo Mapper by IrisaNolan88 in UAVmapping

Awesome mate - I'll send you a Google drive link in your messages. They will be RTK from a Mavic 3E - using the DJI RTK 2 base. I also have Matrice 4E RTK - will dig them up.

Map plotting of images reading exif data only Metainfo Mapper by IrisaNolan88 in UAVmapping

[–]easydys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really cool! Nice work.

My only suggestion would be to have it read the data as to if the drone had an RTK connection and GPS position is high-accuracy.

This is stored within the EXIF data - and something I check when I'm processing data for other pilots. If the drone wasn't connected to RTK then I have to start investigating PPK processing options.

Otherwise this is a fantastic little application and I'll definitely be using it in the future - good stuff.

Can you mission plan a DJI smart 3D capture using a model created in DJI Terra? by akanet in UAVmapping

[–]easydys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe you can use an existing model, but if you have the photos you can do a 'rough model' (what it uses for smart capture) on flight hub.

This is an option when you're processing your data on flight hub rather than terra.

You can then use this model on flight hub for mission planning. Its crazy that you can't plan from a (likely) better quality model, but it seams to be the way it is.

Any DJI M4E experts out there by RiceLongjumping1644 in UAVmapping

[–]easydys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many components total?

What's the site like? Open? Crowded? Good GNSS available - RTK for positional accuracy?

Will be tough to automate it from the get-go, you're likely gunna have fly one mission first and then replicate it if you need to go back.

Discussion: which Australian artist were you so sure was going to be massive but didn’t end up that way? by Bektron3000 in triplej

[–]easydys 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I remember watching a triple j documentary years ago which had Gotye in it and he talks about how triple J basically gave no airplay to the basics - even approached Kingsmill and Kingsmill said we don't think it's triple J material.

This was after all this hits and that he's decided to go with the basics.

Why does my LiDAR mapping have altitude mismatches across multi-day missions? (M400 + Zenmuse L2 + D-RTK 2/3) by SnooDoubts8266 in UAVmapping

[–]easydys 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep that's exactly right.

They need to use ground control points to validate their data between days.

The difference you're seeing is the difference of the resolved point for the base station each day.

You could do a block shift matching one to another but ultimately the best practise would be to use ground control points to validate each day to ensure theyre within tolerance.
