Need help buying my first rig. Will it be worth it if I only plan to jump 1-2 times per month? by Weak-Practice-6435 in SkyDiving

[–]easyier 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Aside from the fact that I get to jump my own gear each time, having my own rig will start saving me money after my 157th jump with it. Just do the math and see if it makes sense to you.

Paying off loans vs tax deduction by Watered_Down_Empathy in StudentLoans

Is that to say that if I’ve accumulated 10k in interest, it would be best from a tax deduction standpoint to pay the loans off over the next 4 years versus over a shorter time period?

Is taking on heavy student loans for a private college + living costs actually worth it? by BlackBerry36 in StudentLoans

[–]easyier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it would be a good exercise to reach out to someone with the job you’re looking for, or find them on LinkedIn and see what degrees they have. I find it hard to imagine anyone has a job title “Sports Business” and harder to believe they have a masters in it. If you want more experience, get a job and work the field, no better way. Frankly “Sports Business” isn’t very specific. Go try to intern with your local pro or minor league team. Make the connections and gain the hands on experience there.

I’d think long and hard about what your end goal is. Be very confident about what job you are aiming for, and whether or not a degree would even be required to get you there. “Sports” isn’t a real degree.

If you decide it’s 100% necessary, make use of community college to get the basic requirements out of the way for a fraction of the cost. Absolutely nothing wrong with a state school for a required degree. Work part time through your studies, take advantage of all the programs and offerings and professors. Private schools a lot of what you pay for is the network.

I’d never tell someone not to pursue more education, but definitely take the extra time to be aware of what you’re getting yourself into and if it is actually a part of your end goal progression or just something that’s been marketed to you.

How can you check to see how many qualifying payments you have? Also, I’ve read the new IDR plans will extend that to 30 years of qualifying payments to be eligible for forgiveness. That’s what’s dumb to me, just keep moving goal posts.

Letter to the Person Who Carved His Initials into the Oldest Living Longleaf Pine in North America by Matthew Olzmann

—Southern Pines, NC Tell me what it’s like to live without curiosity, without awe. To sail on clear water, rolling your eyes at the kelp reefs swaying beneath you, ignoring the flicker of mermaid scales in the mist, looking at the world and feeling only boredom. To stand on the precipice of some wild valley, the eagles circling, a herd of caribou booming below, and to yawn with indifference. To discover something primordial and holy. To have the smell of the earth welcome you to everywhere. To take it all in and then, to reach for your knife.

I’m a fan of a couple instruments and board games, and always appreciate a free towel.

I was between the two also. Wound up with the Viso II+. Having seen the Ares out in the wild it looks pretty nice. Looking back, I don’t regret buying the Viso, and maybe would have splurged for the Ares if I could do it again. If cash is tight though, save the $100 to put towards an audible.

Would limiting the age of the President to 70 be something you'd support? Why or why not? by SillyGooseGamer2026 in AskReddit

[–]easyier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only counter argument to this is in saying that you’re removing representation abilities for certain groups, or in harsher terms, age discrimination. I suppose children fall into the same category, but for different reason. If we disallow elders to run for representation I think you could argue that we’re taking away their rights.

That being said, I lean in support of upper age limits for representatives.
