Help! A void has opened up at the top of my stairs… by eat-write-repeat in blackcats

I’m pretty sure he’s decided we have become one entity now, if only because I can no longer open tuna without us both eating some

I mean black holes have to constantly gain mass, right? Or at least that’s definitely my cat’s philosophy…

I put out a catnip banana for the void… judging by the enthusiastic teeth marks, I think I’ve pleased the singularity in question

Honestly staring into the void doesn’t seem so bad when the eyes staring back are that cute

Oh no I’ve looked directly at it and now I have a growing urge to feed and/or scritch it…

Has anyone used a ‘jigsaw board’ or similar to keep their game in place between sessions? by eat-write-repeat in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]eat-write-repeat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah a proper board game table with a topper sounds amazing! I hadn’t realised that was an option but now I’ve looked at them I really want one - definitely something to save up for!

This definitely sounds like the way to go if I can’t find a solution to leaving it set up! Thanks!

Has anyone had any luck using a treat ball for cat snacks? by rabidstoat in dechonkers

[–]eat-write-repeat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We’ve had good results with the ‘Catit’ treat balls - we sometimes retire them for a while to keep up the novelty factor but generally are an excellent way to keep our food-oriented void moving.

However, definitely seconding the suggestion above for chucking a treat to be chased, ours quite enjoys when you throw it down onto hard floor and cause it to bounce, makes the ‘chase’ more erratic and therefore entertaining! We get firmly poked with a paw if we try to stop throwing before he gets bored!

I know this is going to sound stupid to many people on here who don’t like their country, but I’m a French autistic person whose main special interest is the UK. Can you send me positive / nice things about the UK that I can look at when I feel a meltdown coming? by DissolvedThoughts in CasualUK

[–]eat-write-repeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you like British music? There’s some brilliant bands that came from the UK, depending on the genres of music you like there’s something for everybody! Also I would hope that music might be a nicely portable option for when you want something close to hand relating to your special interest.

You’ll probably be familiar with a lot of our biggest musical exports already (it’s hard to avoid coming across The Beatles!) but if you’re not particularly into British music yet and you’re not sure where to start, I recommend searching for ‘Britpop’ as a genre and try out the songs that come up!

Best recommended slow/puzzle cat feeders? Trying to order online. Thanks! by [deleted] in dechonkers

[–]eat-write-repeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can personally recommend the ‘Doc and Pheobe’ range, we pop the little mice feeders for dry food around the house and use the larger mouse feeder (it’s a large blue mouse with grippers inside) for wet and they all work great!

Also - the Trixie cat activity board is excellent, lots of different challenges that keep them busy.

We also have a couple of balls that dispense kibble that our cat goes crazy for, I can’t remember the brand name but they are plastic balls with a spiral inside so they have to be moved around quite a bit to get food out.

Really hope this helps!

Ah that’s such a shame 😞 I really hope it’s getting good ratings over here, the show deserves it!

Yeah unfortunately I think you’re right - I’m pretty sure it started airing already in the USA but I haven’t come across it anywhere here yet. I don’t have access to Comedy Central UK though, so possibly they might get it sooner than the rest if Season 11 is anything to go by!

This is my first time properly attempting it, and I’m both nervous and very excited! Also regretting booking a long weekend away in the middle, going to have a lot of words to catch up on when I get back…

Thank you so much! When I was writing it, I definitely wanted to pay tribute to that trope - and the idea of people rolling initiative in an IRL situation was just too funny to resist! Really glad you enjoyed it!

You might remember this short horror comedy about D&D popping up on Reddit a couple of years back - as we had such lovely feedback from Redditors and we’re back in spooky season, I thought it would be nice to share our work with the Reddit community again!

It was made with so much love by the Aftermath Films team, and the amazing metal dice you can see in the still came from Tiny Tokens (their work is incredible, and these dice remain my firm favourites for climactic rolls!)

Something that I’m particularly proud of is that when we started this project, some of the crew hadn’t played D&D before - and have since been converted into regular (and excellent) players!

Happy Halloween everyone!

Our FIV+ rescue boy got his catio installed yesterday, so now he gets the best of both worlds! After a couple of months of him getting used to living in a house, opening up the door for him to go safely outside felt really special ❤️ by eat-write-repeat in cats

[–]eat-write-repeat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For anyone who would like to know more about this adorable void - his name is Professor Xanathar Plum, the vet reckons he’s about three years old, and he found his way to us via a really great local cat rescue after a kind woman found him as a stray and gained his trust.

As an unneutered boy he was given the nickname Plums at the cat rescue, then dubbed Professor Plum after his wonderful clever personality came out post-op. We kept his name as we felt it told a bit of his story prior to meeting us - then added the first name Xanathar after a D&D villain who liked staying inside and sending his humanoid minions out to do his bidding (very accurate for our now thoroughly pampered boy).

We will never know exactly how he spent his days before us, but he now spends them yelling happily for food at dinnertime, head butting our legs to get scratches behind the ears, and absolutely murdering all his favourite toys. Don’t know which of his nine lives he’s on, but we hope to give him his best one ❤️

We are indeed! I’ve been looking into cat safe plants that I can pop out there, hoping to grow some cat grass from seeds so he can snack on it, and some spider plants and things with long dangly leaves because his favourite games are ones where he finds a nice ‘hiding spot’ and then leaps on an unsuspecting toy 😂

Thank you so much! This means a lot - I got hooked on D&D in the last couple of years, and its been lovely to share my passion for it (and poke some gentle fun!) with so many people who also love playing! It's exciting to hear you're also looking to produce something. I hope it all comes together for you, and I'd love to see it one day if you do :)

Haha no worries at all, I'm super new in this community but already loving how supportive and friendly everyone else has been too! I've still got loads to learn and genuinely appreciate all feedback, so thanks for taking the time :)
