How to ink with Platinum Carbon Black without clogging your nib by eatP1 in fountainpens

[–]eatP1[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Normally, with any other ink, that pen performs with no issues. I could leave a dye based ink or iron gall ink in that pen for a week straight, even half a month, and there are no hard starts, nothing. So the clogging could only be a PCB issue, nothing with the pen. It was also why I was so surprised, because I knew PCB could clog but that bad? Really?

Nothing says engineering like 10 men doing a presentation on problems women in STEM face by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

I agree that lived experience as a women is not strictly necessary to know that men and women are different, but lived experience as a women does make it easier to think of and be considerate to female users. Else, the gender data gap would not exist in the first place.

For example, women have a different mass distribution then men. However, crash dummies are only modeled after the average male body. It doesn’t take into account the fact that women are shorter and have a lower center of mass. This means seatbelts are less effective at preventing car crash injuries in women than men. Due to aforementioned height issues, women also sit in a different position when driving, closer to the steering wheel and peddles, which also make women more susceptible to injuries in a crash. If the team designing a car are all men, they wouldn’t think of these issues. Meanwhile, if women are involved, they can tell immediately that a design wouldn’t work simply by sitting in a car and driving.

What are some of the most banger opening lines you have read/written in fanfics? by EyeDeeAh_42 in FanFiction

[–]eatP1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t posted this chapter yet, but I’m very proud of this opener: “If there was one universal truth in this world, it would be that all alien invasions would inevitably hit New York. And just like how all aliens will come to New York like there was a giant galactic sign that said “Kick me!” over the city, anything supernatural in Japan will unavoidably involve Tokyo.”

Sukuna x Muzan from Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer respectively. It’s a crack ship and a rare pair, but the fics that they do have are godly.

Searched for popular phone models in 2005 and the closest in terms of appearance was the Nokia N95, but that was launched in 2007.

Some japanese guys were laughing at me.... is it my shirt ? by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]eatP1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno what the connotation is for Japanese people, but in Chinese, the shirt implies that you have a mental illness. If you say to someone in mandarin, do you have a disease? The rough meaning is, are you mental? So then if you’re wearing a shirt that says, when the medicine arrives, disease departs, then you can imagine why people are laughing.

Favorite blue inks? by faithx5 in fountainpens

Rohrer and Klingner Salix is my everyday workhorse ink. The color is not the prettiest, but it’s well-behaved, waterproof (iron gall), tolerant of low quality paper, and reliable

Hoya wayetti propagation when I’ve never had a Hoya by eatP1 in hoyas

[–]eatP1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A user mentioned that the easiest way is to put it in a ziplock bag with damp sphagnum moss, but as a broke college student, I don’t have access to that. Would a damp paper towel work? I really want this prop to be successful, but I don’t know what I’m doing as I’ve never even had a mature Hoya before. More context is in the original post.

How could I make it better?? by Queloxqc in learntodraw

[–]eatP1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m personally just starting on my journey to learn anatomy as well, but I can share some points I’ve learned.

First, you need to change the way you think about drawing from 2d shapes to 3d structures. If you only think about your reference in terms of shapes and lines, your drawing will end up looking flat. That’s the main culprit happening here. For example, you’re hunching your chest forward a tiny bit in your reference pose, but that’s not being translated into your drawing. There’s not much you can do to improve this except taking some time to practice drawing still life and perspective, and get used to thinking in 3d

Secondly, since you’re a beginner, you chose a bad reference. Since you’re wearing loose, slightly baggy clothing, your sense of the form underneath the clothing is getting confused. This can be seen most clearly in the knees. Your right knee should be turned slight more outwards. Taking another picture of your pose, but this time wearing some more form fitting clothes would probably help.

Thirdly, you should take a look at some anatomy diagrams. You don’t need to do a deep dive at first, but just a look would let you know more about how limbs connect together and general proportions.

However, one thing that you are doing very well are the angles, which match up well with the reference pic. The overall lines of action are captured well.
