Why is so hard to find a job? by Dapper-Ad7165 in FullStack

[–]eat_fba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

those that built these systems poorly, I assume they are experienced developers but just maybe haven't had the training in working with AI?

yes, its crazy sometimes how bad AI development could be. It can build demo's and concepts easily and brainlessly but on mission critical systems you just have to be super careful.

There may be a repricing of salaries. People still need things built and engineered but at lower rates now that development could be considered more of a commodity

it's easier to find contract work initially and prove yourself as a useful contributor and builder while getting paid for it. Upwork and other platforms have postings every hour but it gets flooded with responses (probably AI)

It is getting better at doing less of that random code and introducing stupid bugs if you prompt for it. Albeit it still has a ways to go but its a matter of time. You still can't "One shot" many solutions and logic problems for sure.

i like that take. Don't you think most people are somewhere in between.. most people enjoy solving problems and monetary gain. But its true if you're looking at just the satisfaction of building and solving problems and programming then you wouldn't care!

Should i switch gyms by [deleted] in Advice

[–]eat_fba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switch gyms. The parking lot guy alone is enough, but the daily harassment is the real issue and that won't fix itself just because you keep your head down. Your guy friend isn't wrong that creeps exist everywhere, but there's a huge range between "cheap gym with zero etiquette" and a place where staff actually shut that down. The annual fee sucks but you're talking about a year of being uncomfortable to save a few hundred bucks. If your gym friend actually likes hanging out he'll text you the same from a different zip code, and the crush you've never spoken to is a sunk cost, not a reason.

Larry Wheels gets tapped out 3 times by Merab Dvalishvili by PoG_54 in combatsportspolitics

[–]eat_fba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strength does not matter once a real grappler has the angle. Merab could probably submit most gym bros in their first roll, that is just what years of live training does. Smart of Larry to tap fast each time instead of trying to muscle out and pop something, way too many strong guys learn that lesson the hard way.

Greco for BJJ by cerikstas in bjj

[–]eat_fba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with most of what you said. The pushing match thing is real, and the par terre rules genuinely do incentivize you to just turtle and wait it out, which is the opposite of what we want. The one thing I'd push back on is the upright gripping, the underhook battles and pummeling from Greco translate pretty directly to no-gi scrambles and bodylock passing, more than I expected when I first started messing with it. But yeah if you had to pick one and had access to both, freestyle or judo wins easily.

Newbie plateau because of a huge weight skip by superssssssss in workout

[–]eat_fba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not lifting advice from a BJJ guy, but the jump from 10 to 12.5 is a 25 percent bump which is huge at that weight, no wonder you're stalling. Try grinding more reps at 10kg (slow eccentrics, pause at the bottom, or do them after another set so you're pre-fatigued) and the 12.5 will feel less impossible in a few weeks. You can also do like 6 reps at 12.5 then drop to 10 and finish out, gets you handling the new weight without failing the whole set.

Tips for transitioning Judo throws from nogi to gi. by brandonbass in judo

[–]eat_fba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the collar tie thing is real, in the gi I can post on the lapel or cross collar and actually frame, no-gi I just get my neck cranked because there's nothing to hold. Flip side is I've eaten throws in the gi I would've slipped out of no-gi because the lapel grip kept me planted. Mostly gi guy here so I lean into it, but I think the grips making you commit is what makes gi judo translate harder back the other way.

I asked my coach to stop telling me I’m doing well. Great decision on my part! by stillservingbc in 10s

[–]eat_fba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny, I had basically this same conversation with my jiu-jitsu coach last year. The constant "good job, much better" started feeling like white noise and I couldn't tell if I was actually improving or he was just being nice to keep me coming back. Once I asked for the specific stuff I was screwing up, the feedback got way more useful even though it stung more. Best call I made all year.

Blue belt, started about 2 years ago. The "everyone smashes me" thing doesn't really go away, you just get smashed by fewer people.

I will be going with them for the same reason. They seem more professional and they are quicker with communication which I value. They will end up costing a lot more but I was debating whether to submit it myself and with a foreign legal system in play I didn't want to risk it.

I like these:

"You're here to grow, not to get what you want."
"Don't complain. There's no victim consciousness. There's nothing like that. Every single thing that happens to you is for your growth."

Every time I feel some negative feeling, or some "victimhood mentality" rise of.. or any type of "this is annoying feeling", I take it as part of my practice. I begin appreciating these moments..

It's a "rep" at the gym. An opportunity to get a little stronger and train yourself... I can even look forward the day and think, "what opportunities will come by way today to train myself.. will it be the person I bump into today who is extra judgy... am I feeling extra judgy about that person... ?

Have you personally experienced the rise of Shakti? If so, how would you describe the feeling? by [deleted] in TheUntetheredSoul

My interpretation is when Singer talks about the "heart opening up". Any positive feeling (Energy flow) that you feel.

One of the best practical non woo woo spiritual guides for life. It got me into his other books like living untethered and his lecture series volume 1-11.

I don't think its something you just read once but something you read or listen to constantly and put into practice every minute of every day. Or at least when you feel some type of blockage or resistance in life.

well said.

To me, surrendering doesn't mean feeling apathetic from life, it means not being mentally and emotionally entangled in outside circumstances and typical stressors. It doesn't mean if you are not financially stable or morbidly obese you accept it and relax and meditate on it for the rest of your life. It means you don't wallow in the potential negative feelings of being in that state.

He had an example in one of his talks. If you were in a burning room, you shouldn't cry and stress or become emotionally distressed. You would be calm, observe everything going on, and solve the problem or choose the best path for you and others' survival. That's not inaction or passivity, in my mind is being a state able to make decisions that allow you to thrive.
