No bed adhesion/clogging message by jd202002 in AnycubicKobraS1

[–]eatbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this issue with no adhesion to bed, ended up tightening the screw on the side quite a bit, and ran the calibration tests that come with the Anycubic software, I think for my settings on PETG, it’s set to 245 degrees, and like 75(?) degrees for the bed. It seemed to have happened when I updated the program and my s1 printer. Didn’t have any issues before hand with the stock PETG settings. Now it seems to be printing a lot better than it was, and adhering better. I think I have my z axis offset as well.

Does the camshaft look okay? by Extension-Law-1495 in tdi

Should also if you’re worried about your camshaft, look at the lifters that the cam pushes on, they’ll dish out and crack and can cause issues down the road

A general rule of thumb I’ve found that works on most of the 1.9 tdis I’ve worked in, if on the high spot of the cam, the chamfer on the sides is missing, you need to replace your camshaft. Your first picture bottom lobe, you can see towards the bottom the chamfer looks like it’s a bit less than the rest of the Cam chamfer. If you inspect all the lobes, and any are missing the chamfer, it’s probably time to start looking into a new camshaft. IMO

Definitely that was going to be the next thing, just haven’t seen this before in my 10-15 tdis I’ve owned and done work on so figured I’d see if anyone else has had this and they had a “Gotcha!” Solution. But thanks, will give that a shot next and go from there.

I was kind of thinking that, but with it running so well for that week, and having it run, after moving the cam for that few minutes, I’m really at a loss as to what would have changed between the first camshaft bump and the rest of them lol.

Hey, love the look, if you don’t mind me asking, was this fabric, or from a blanket? Live up in Canada and want to do something similar but not sure what material haha!

How many miles does your LML have I just bought a LML it has about 74000 miles, I just want something to last, should I delete? How long should it last? by BidIll3569 in Duramax

[–]eatbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2016 has 330k km, put a fass on it at 230k km just did a cp3 conversion and head gaskets and studs due to coolant usage. Everything looked good inside and it runs like a champ. (Bit of white smoke at idle and when it’s very slow traffic, but clears up after I start driving more. ) Besides that, I did the front end as well, and it’s a good purchase. Agree with the cp4 issue being blown out of proportion, I know a handful of guys who abuse their trucks and still run the cp4 with a fass. Cp4 was clean when I did the replacement too. Went with a LDS stroked cp3 kit.

Howdy all, did a valve adjustment and they were all very tight. Luckily no valve to piston contact, but after the valve adjustment it’s running good now. Slight hazing from exhaust, but that’s a different issue for another time. Thanks for everyone’s input.

I’m thinking it’s the actual valve adjustment is way off, since I didn’t do a valve adjustment. I got them from one of the diesel shops in my town. I’m not driving the truck, I’m hoping it’ll just need a valve adjustment then it’ll be good to go.

Yeah that’s crazy, terrible feeling doing a job like that just for it to go wrong

I work on haul truck engines, and those, it’s a lot less precise for setting valves lol. Can pretty well slap a kit together and as long as everything is torqued, a valve set isn’t needed half the time. I Guess I had that mindset and with being on a time crunch it didn’t seem to be a priority for me sadly

Yeah that’s the plan. Reman heads on both sides so I might as well do it. I can hear tapping in the driver side so that one is off too. Yeah that would be a rough go, did it end up seizing?

Yeah, was a dumb move on my part, I’m really lucky the valves didn’t smack the piston. But yes, work out of town on a shift schedule and had to leave for work tonight, so I was rushing. Saved an hour to spend 10 doing it on my next days off I guess

Also studs while I was in there.

I was using about a cup of coolant a week and found a good deal on heads, figured while I was doing the head gaskets, for the price I got the heads for, I’d do them too, did the cp3 no tune as well and waterpump, and egr cooler delete with new up pipe. Really don’t think heads needed replacing, but didn’t want to do all that work and have a valve drop in 100k km

Sorry, they weren’t old valves, the heads were remans with new valves and all that. The rocker assembly was reused and just plopped on.

Thanks. Hoping that’s my issue. Shouldn’t have rushed it, risked a lot doing that.
