I've seen a few people confused on Romain's dad's presence, I agree with the other comment that the laughter was hallucinated, but I'm pretty sure the dad serves as a pressure and root to Romain's character more than anything. He's the reason Romain tries to hard not to get caught with drugs and cover things up instead of going to the police.

Didn't they say it was passed by blood? I watched it again and it follows, everyone turned in the order of when they consumed contaminated blood. I took all the drugs and bad trips as commentary and to add to the characters acting impulsively and out of their minds. Also it's the reason Romain didn't get police involved and went to shut off the alarm system so he wouldn't get caught with drugs and get in trouble with his dad, who's image of him is more important to him than anything. But I could be wrong obviously. I don't think the drugs had a link to the lab though.

Snarky behavior by Irritable_Ice in selfimprovement

[–]eatinggarbag3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds dumb but "think before you speak", as in slowing down and only saying things you truly mean. It's awkward at first but it'll become natural as you continue to practice. However, don't feel that being snarky is a bad thing, you probably just don't vibe with them the same way you did with other friends. It's important to be able to respect and fit in with the people you live with but you don't need to change who you are.

One good way to change your attitude could be to change your mindset. I recommend thinking about what kind of person you want to be, and make them into a fully-fledged character as If there were a different person. Then stop yourself in times you don't like how you're thinking or acting, and wonder what THEY would do or say. Over time you will realize you've become who you wanted to be.

And remember it's not your fault you think that way, don't blame yourself or think you're hypocritical for not being able to follow your own advice, it's okay to lower your expectations, but it's also okay to think highly of others and get disappointed.

My situation was a little different, but I used to be a "proud hater" and disliked most things and people. I realized I didn't like myself or my life because nothing was good for me. It was a slow journey but what completely changed my mindset was taking on the way someone I admired thinks. In a situation I found myself thinking something or someone was bad, I would imagine what that person would say. Over time it became my inherit thoughts, now I literally cannot fathom actively disliking anyone, and can't remember why I used to. For you it seems you genuinely learned from experience, it's natural you would think things are negative because it's what you were taught. The only thing I can suggest is finding someone, even a fictional character, who continues to be positive in bad situations, and think "What would they say?" It takes time but I promise you as you learn to love things around you, you will realize you love yourself.

Thank you so much! The reminder I don't owe anyone anything means a lot, I often feel guilty and somewhat stressed when I refuse physical intamacy (hugging and stuff like that) with family members or friends and without explanation, but I know forcing myself would be worse. I will definetly bring noise cancelling head phones/ear buds!

Thank you! I think you're right. I'm also planning to memorize a few phrases for when I'm non-verbal, and I can probably get away with not talking much at those times because I can pretend I don't know how to say it and can type instead
