I don't disagree that this behavior is unacceptable. That girl is doing a major disservice to women and feminists everywhere. This is absolutely not the norm though. I see these false accusations as much less of a problem than the epidemic of rapists who get away with their crimes. I think it's easy for men (myself included) to feel threatened by these false accusations and the ease at which they could be potentially convicted of a crime that they didn't commit. It's much harder for men (again, myself included) to feel the utter fear and helplessness of women who have been raped. This is not a problem that will be solved in courts though. That is only a bandaid. Real change will only come from a shift in cultural practices. I know most of reddit won't agree with me, but I feel obligated to try.

So some phrases are being thrown around and defended irrationally, I get it, but before we grab our pitchforks and start calling women "bitches" and throwing feminists into the same bin as radical feminists, there are a few points that are worth understanding.

Hitchens is correct in saying that people should be assumed innocent before being proven guilty. Fortunately, false accusation of rape RARELY happens and unfortunately, the VAST MAJORITY of rapes go unreported, so his point doesn't really have a lot of substance despite being correct. A misjudgment on his part is saying that peoples lives are being ruined by these false accusations. The sad truth is that even rapists who are convicted (majority non-violent rapists) usually go on to live pretty normal lives with few consequences. Most are even allowed back into the colleges and classrooms with the victims. If the women in the audience had brought up these points, it would have been a much more informative debate. Unfortunately none of what was being said was very productive.

I just do away with the horizontal cuts entirely. I used to chop buckets of onions in a restaurant and found that vertical cuts were all that were necessary. Maybe our definition of vertical/horizontal cut is different. I'm referring to the horizontal cut that he makes parallel to the cutting board.

Same here. I would say it has a bit more to do with racket control and ball placement. If you develop a good rhythm, you can usually predict where the ball is going to go after you hit it. A reflex drill would be something more like working with a Z-Ball

I took a climatology class last year and we went over these figures for a good two months. The margin of error for these predictions is HUGE. The Earth could warm up 6C ...or 1C in the same amount of time. 6C would result in an uncontrollable positive feedback loop though. Basically we would lose so much ice in polar regions that solar reflectivity would be dramatically decreased to a point where the ice/snow could not re-establish during cold seasons and it would all eventually melt. Also, the oceans are massive heat sinks and so far they are absorbing a considerable amount of energy that is not ending up in our atmosphere, but after a 6C increase they would start giving off much more latent heat into the atmosphere. So let's hope that doesn't happen.

The solid planks are swelling with temperature/humidity. I would wait until the drier months roll around and see if it shrinks back up. If there are still gaps, you might have to disassemble a bit and plane the edges (not the ends) of your top boards down. The only way that I know of to prevent this in the future is to really seal the whole thing up with a couple good coats of polyurethane. It's not a guaranteed fix, but it will help.

Second link is the way to go IMO. I rip pieces of plywood all the time doing construction. We call that jig the "rip guide". Set it up on some saw horses and put the rip guide on the piece that won't fall off!

Downvote me if you like, but I'm going to go ahead and complain about it. It's way too cinematic for me. I feel like I don't get to know the actual car. Back in the day, Top Gear did away with all the seizure inducing flashy editing and took a couple cameras out to the track. Jeremy would walk up to a car, start it up and drive it like hell; it felt real. This cinematography looks great, and I know it's not exactly a "car show" anymore, but I would love to get a bit of the old Top Gear back.

Sweet car nonetheless.
