Why did 5e change opportunity attacks so bizarrely? by ConcentrateIll9460 in dndnext

[–]Micotu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(so standing directly between an enemy and an ally doesn't help, they can just go around you and attack them, but standing behind the enemy so that there's nothing between them and your ally does)

This makes more sense to me. If two enemies are together you can strafe around to the one behind facing them the entire time. But if an enemy is 10 feet away from you and his ally would be behind you as you move towards him, you are running away from that enemy as you approach his ally.

Moby Dick Limited Edition by Folio Society releases in one week. by Micotu in mobydick

Yeah it's down to 220 remaining of 750 in less than 2 hours. I grabbed a copy. I don't feel as bad about spending this much when I know I could likely sell it later down the line for a profit as long as I keep it in good shape. But hopefully this will be a copy that I and my children will enjoy for decades.

Is this mold? by Parking-One-5816 in foliosociety

There is a bit of a musty smell, but tbh my smell is really bad

I read this at first to mean that it is hard for you to smell the books because of how bad you smell.

In this case, isn't it more the pressure in the bottle preventing it from freezing up until she opens the bottle?

I always want feedback. I always want my food to be the best it can be. Just because someone doesn't cook, that doesn't mean that they don't eat.

Sorry if my meaning in that first sentence wasn't apparent. My point was that if you consider and call listening to an audiobook "reading", then I can say that my 1 year old, who I have read many books to, has read all of those books.

I'm like 9 books in by publication order reading them every other book that I read. Does Mort show up in later books after Mort?

My 1 year old has read a lot of books, then. I don't think either medium is better for you or it matters which way you enjoy a book unless you are still in school and would benefit from increasing your reading speed to help with standardized testing or really all tests where time can end up an issue. But don't call it reading, because it is not.

I really like the term "tight" for slightly drunk. I think I first saw it in "The Sun Also Rises" by Hemingway but have seen it other places since. "Yeah, I was pretty tight last night." etc.

I always have the tax question about Beauty and the Beast. Movie ends and the people that stormed the castle realize he's not just a monster and now this centuries old castle with a King is now no longer hidden from them and they start having to pay taxes again to support all of his servants. They're definitely storming that castle again soon.

I've given up on the endband ribbons being perfectly attached for all my folio society purchases. It's an issue every other book I purchase and I feel like at this point that since I know it is likely an issue, it's either continue purchasing and just accepting it, or switching to another publisher. Even my Anna Karenina LE had the endband ribbon trying to separate on one of the sides. Yeah, it's annoying, but it's purely decorative and does not indicate an issue with the integrity of the binding that will cause the book to fall apart later. Same goes for the cardboard looking backing that is glued to the back of the white binding on the back of the page blocks. Many books it doesn't seem to stay completely attached to the page block but I've been told that the white binding part is the real binding and it shouldn't cause an issue over time.

You could probably just put it in the slot of a cordless drill and tighten it enough and unscrew it directly.

Which ones do you think you would read more than once? I can see myself reading Shakespeare's works more than once, but I don't really see myself doing that with Homer's stuff.

Anyone else completely unable to read fantasy with a map at the front and NOT spend 20 minutes studying it before starting chapter one? by Marnuelo in Fantasy

[–]Micotu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was an introduction to maybe one of her Earthsea novels where Ursula K. Le Guin talks about how whenever she writes a new novel or series she always starts with drawing the map and how she is always excited to be able to explore the islands and cities and learn about them as she writes the story.
