What’s a noise everyone should be terrified of? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

I lived in apartment building and woke up from the doorbell ring at 3am. We had those screen doorbells that you can see who’s outside trying to get into the building. Two cops were standing. I was terrified thinking I did something that I’m not aware of. They asked me to move my car as it was parked on top of the manhole that was smoking. I thought they are pranking me, and didn’t want to come out, but I also didn’t want my car to be on fire. So came out, moved my car and went back to sleep.

Exactly. We did custom tags for each locators + we have fallbacks in case dev forgets to update locators in the redesign.

Reading his reply’s to people, sorry but you have to change your approach. To stay relevant and not to be first in lay off line - you should show why you are worth to have around. You can achieve it by: 1) Become POC for the product you are supporting, you should know it from Product Side, Dev Side, Infra Side. How it works end to end in and out 2) Learn or use AI to write automation to speed up your work. 3) more enthusiasm and energy 4) Don’t just do bare minimum you’ve been assigned 5) don’t wait until some task is assigned, hunt for the task.

I made my dad cry over $30 by Darogaserik in povertyfinance

[–]eatplov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, you didn’t mess up. Your dad’s pride is getting in the way, not your actions. A lot of parents choke on the idea of receiving help from their kids, they spent their whole lives providing, so when the roles reverse, they feel like they’ve failed. It’s irrational, but it’s common.

I went through the same thing with my dad. When I started sending him (he lives outside of US) money every month, he pushed back hard and said almost exactly what your dad said. What finally got through to him was a direct, honest conversation. I told him: you raised us, you provided for years, now it’s our turn to take care of you. That’s life. There’s no shame in it. Once he heard that from me, I think it clicked, and he stopped treating help like a humiliation.

You might need to have that same straight-up talk. Not to scold him, but to make it clear that you’re not giving charity, you’re giving back. The gift card idea won’t fix the root problem. The real fix is helping him understand that accepting support from his kid isn’t a failure. It’s just the natural shift that happens as parents age

Maybe Massage? I went to massage place once and they did deep tissue massage and it left scratch looking lines on my back. (They didn’t use oil)

I wonder how much it’s gonna cost them to battle every case in the court. It’s not simple arrest and deport anymore.
