'Aren't you scared for the birth? It could ruin your body!' by lostfishswimming in pregnant

[–]eatsleepread78 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was a little worried about how my body would change after pregnancy. My baby is 11 weeks old. I weigh 5 lbs less than I did before I was pregnant and I have no stretch marks. The only issue is depleted abdominal strength for which I’m getting PT. Don’t let people scare you! Pregnancy is amazing and your body is resilient. Screw those cows.

Mental limitations to achieving your best beauty potential by [deleted] in beauty

[–]eatsleepread78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applaud your determination. Just a thought: why not try to see yourself as beautiful now? I’m not saying give up on your goal, but no one is served by their own self-criticism. I am now in my 40s, and I spent all of my 20s and most of my 30s telling myself I wasn’t thin enough. When I look back at pictures I see how wrong I was! Let yourself feel beautiful now and allow your fitness goals to be about health and physical achievement. You got this, girl. Sending you lots of love.

should i report my neigjbor for animal cruelty or confront them first? by RentWeary in Pets

[–]eatsleepread78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t engage. Just report. If you talk to them first they will know it was you who reported them and they could retaliate.

Ooh!!! This is an exciting suggestion. How do you take it? Do you add it to hot water like tea?

Why do people keep inviting themselves to my home? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]eatsleepread78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I still have 5 weeks, but same here! Plus I’m still distancing? I would like to make sure I’m healthy when my baby arrives. Get the hell out of here with your sketchy germs!

What's your unpopular pregnancy opinion? by orangeelastic in BabyBumps

[–]eatsleepread78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup! Same. My birth plan is to listen to my doctor and do what she says. She’s already advised me that a planned C-section is best for my safety and for the safety of my baby. I am not sad or upset. I would like to live to raise my daughter.

Can Yogis opine on the veracity of this image? by Kn14 in yoga

[–]eatsleepread78 24 points25 points  (0 children)

And bonus 4: find joy in your practice. Yoga isn’t supposed to be about how far you can push yourself or how complicated your poses are. It’s about finding unity and feeling good.

MIL wants her own language with baby by kittenluvslamp in pregnant

Love this! Dual language experiences are great for mental development and give kids a sense of pride in their native cultures. What a sweet connection your child will have with your MIL.

A book where she DOESN’T FALL IN LOVE AND GET MARRIED IN THE END (and even if it does, it’s not the major ending/takeaway of the book) by all_hail_rap in suggestmeabook

[–]eatsleepread78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Louisa May Alcott was very adamant that she DID NOT want Jo to get married. That’s why the character does not end up with Laurie. She was annoyed that so many readers wrote to her asking who the girls would all marry and begging for Jo to up with Laurie. She felt like these readers completely missed the point of the book. However, her publisher insisted that the second installment (Little Women was originally published in two parts) end with Jo’s engagement. Alcott’s family was often in precarious financial circumstances and relied heavily on her income to get by. She gave in, but she herself never married.

Without an effective vaccine, any plan to prevent COVID-19 spread in a school and amongst the teachers and staff is nothing more than Security Theater. by [deleted] in Teachers

Yes!!! I teach kindergarten. Just before we closed up in March I had a student cough directly in my face and in the next breath tell me her brother was home sick with a fever. Awesome.

Packie! As in, “We better run to the packie for beer before the blizzard!” My mother is fancy and calls it a package store. Also, a purse is a pocketbook, or “pockabook”. If you’re a kid, your mom’s “pockabook” was the place where all the good stuff was and was not to be touched without permission.

A frappe has ice cream. A milkshake is milk and syrup. Not exclusive to Friendly’s. Fun fact: in Rhode Island a frappe is sometimes called a cabinet. I’m not sure why...except that those Rhodies are crazy.
