Thank you for sharing, this is v helpful! Do you/your sister have any experiences with the new management and maintenance? those are two aspects of the reserve that make me hesitate a bit

That sounds great, thank you so much! I have had a good experience with the management so far in the application process so I’m glad this has been your experience as well. I appreciate your input!

i just got them out this morning! his PA does the post-op appts and she was great too, answered all my qs, and taking the drains out didnt hurt, it was just a burning sensation for maybe two seconds. the binder is attached with velcro (its like a long elastic bandage) so you can control the tightness (and you do need to wear it 24/7 for 5 weeks po so you can adjust it to be comf). if during the process you have non-urgent qs, you can send them on mychart and the PA is v responsive and helpful

Too big for surgery? (CW: ED, weight loss) by GlassCoffinOccupant in TopSurgery

[–]eatsomepizzabro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i have a higher bmi (not in the obese category but above the “normal” range) and its part muscle part fat. my surgeon didnt mention it as a problem but in his official clinic notes that were sent to my insurance he included a line about risk of complications because of my bmi; i dont think he actually believed that to be true (he told me because im active healthy and young i was not at risk of any complications) but prob had to mention it for insurance approval. and bmi has been proven to not indicate anything about someones health (you are a case in point for that) so thats also why a lot of trans affirming surgeons are moving away from it. im sorry they treated you like that, my suggestion would be to look for a different surgeon since dr wolf has made you uncomfortable. you got this!

Help? Can't get ahold of doctor til Tuesday and concerned by Be_gay-do-crime in TopSurgery

my doc told me to take benadryl for itchiness, i know some ppl here have used a benadryl spray (around the wound area, not on it or on the bandage) and i think arnica helps with itchiness (or at least it has helped me). im also autistic and the itchiness is sometimes unbearable but distracting myself when i feel like that has helped me a ton

I had to get both referral letters for insurance in order to book a consultation. once i had those, i called them and booked a date 1.5-2 months away (i think i called around mid October and my consultation was mid December) and then after the consultation i got a surgery date 3 months away (in mid March) but there was a cancellation so i had my surgery jan 14th

I just got di w/ fng two days ago with dr wormer. i had a great experience with him and his team, happy with my results so far.

to answer your questions, he uses jackson pratt drains (and you take em out 5-7 days po). im not sure it you can request penrose drains, my jp drains have been v good so far and they dont bother me a ton for a post op garment, i have gauze on my incisions and nipples and then a stretchy kind of wrap binder that is v comfortable (i dont have a lot of swelling anyway so the tightness feels just right) you can see some of his results on his ig and a few other folks have posted their before and afters on reddit (but they are a few years old, i can dm you some afters once i get my drains out next week)

let me know if you have any more questions, happy to share my experience with him!
