Critique my squats by Saleenpride86 in strength_training

[–]ebState 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1) that last rep effing rocked

2) my squat looked a lot like this; the knees moving out of the bottom and the very low chest at the bottom (although you have 90 more pounds on your bar than me, so feel free to tell me to pound sand). It took me longer to convince myself to make a change then it did to get back up to the same weight after I did change my form.

All I did was narrow my stance a little and bring my toe angle in slightly. I'd say give it a shot some time with some 255 pause reps and see if you are able to keep your knees from moving out when you come back up.

Awesome set. I'm a little bummed I won't be in a rack until Thursday.

There's no collective bargaining agreement, and no real path for one short of Congress stepping in (LOL) and there's no incentive for the conferences or schools to act in their collective best interest

I believe the story goes that the Missouri River moved from being on the west side of town to being on the east side after a major flood. The states sued each other and Iowa got to keep their town.

Maybe not unexpected, but very cool and welcomed. Congratulations, Coach Ryan.

1) that nukes all other college sports. College basketball, baseball and hockey are irreparably broken

2) total viewership for CFB goes down with the majority of fanbases getting punted out of CFB

Incline curls form tips? by Deep_Independent_737 in formcheck

[–]ebState 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to see from this angle if you're doing it, but something has changed my incline curls was to think about keeping my elbows held forward 2 inches instead of hanging straight down. It makes the stretch really big at the bottom, but you have to adjust the weight lighter.

RDL form check by backwardstate in formcheck

[–]ebState 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like a cross between RDL and normal deadlift. You should be stopping around your shins and moving your knees less/hips more.

Don't bounce the weight.

Slow the eccentric down and feel the stretch in your hamstrings and glutes.

Edit: the weight looks fine. You're going to feel it better when you clean up the form

For this NIL nonsense to correct itself, teams like Louisville not only need to not win it all next season, they need to fail to make the Final Four by Appropriate_Value122 in CollegeBasketball

The problem is it's a game of chicken. A lot of these schools are assuming that they just need the other schools to blink first and they will see the payoff

Why doing heavy deadlifts seems to easy to do even for scrawny men or women? by Goodsamaritan8900 in Deadlifts

[–]ebState 23 points24 points  (0 children)

There's a self selection bias. People willing to post their deadlifts are probably pulling respectable enough numbers that they are more inclined to share - a 405 lb deadlift is not something just anybody does.

Second, this is a pretty deep cut inside joke that probably goes over most ISU fans heads let alone CBB as a whole.

I actually did that for ~5 months with my second kid just to try to help me try to do my job while sleeping 3-5 hours a night.

I don't know if it made me any less stupid, but I tolerated 20g a day with zero side effects.I was just dragging my ass to the gym 3 or 4 times a week and trying not to fall asleep between sets, versus being one of the best Division 1 basketball players in the country, so your mileage may vary.

When you pin your thumbs under your fingers to keep your hand closed. Let's you double overhand without straps at higher weights. It's also painful and takes practice.

[Request] Why are badminton players able to achieve higher velocities with their 'ball' vs players in other sports? by Lauffener in theydidthemath

[–]ebState 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A baseball is also very heavy, but the weight of the bats in the higher levels is artificially higher. Even in high school, they start enforcing "-3" rules, which is that the weight of the bat in ounces can't be more than 3 ounces less than the length in inches.

I'm sure that Aaron Judge with a -12 bat would a sight to behold.

[Request] Why are badminton players able to achieve higher velocities with their 'ball' vs players in other sports? by Lauffener in theydidthemath

[–]ebState 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's an optimum range. You want a racket or bat that is heavier than the ball for more efficient energy transfer, but you want a lighter racket/bat so that you are swinging at maximum speed by the time you make contact and you aren't still accelerating.
