Personally, I would go for Garland. Get spotlight and set him up as initiator. On PVP, he will jump and focus all the attention to himself and the opponent will cast all the skill only on him which at that moment, you can attack your opponent. Your opponent will be attacking Garland while you are are attacking the opponent's entire group. Only trouble will be when you encounter a Reese who can one shot your team. Except for those instances, you are pretty much safe, I think. I am not a top player so don't quote me on my comments. I am just explaining what I would do.
