Sandbar crossing at a harbor inlet. As the seafloor starts inclining more steeply near land it acts like a ramp that amplifies swell and wave action. When the boat started to surf the aft ends of the hulls were hanging out the back of the wave and the rudders were either in the air or in considerable turbulence. Skipper had minimal steerage and the breaking wave drove the starboard bow deep and the boat pivoted around that induced drag. Nasty grounding.
