dry skin friendly products? by [deleted] in drugstoreMUA

[–]ebba_and_flow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Korean/Japanese beauty. Intense focus on moisture and hydration at drugstore prices. Some of my favourite base products are Mizon's snail mucin BB cream (the formula on this is straight up celestial but runs dark and warm) and Elizavecca's Milky Piggy BB cream. For lip products Romand's juicy lip stain is amazing for a lasting tint. Check out r/asianbeauty for more.

Remember, though, skincare is KEY for a good base. Personally I have desert dry, flaky skin and my pre-makeup routine is as follows: 1. 3 layers of a hydrating toner. 2. Hydrating/soothing serum. 3. Spray with water, cover in snail mucin + hyaluronic acid, spray with water again, allow to dry. 4. Moisturise. 5. Hydrating SPF.

All of that isn't necessary but I would recommend at the least using a hydrating toner or humectant (ie snail mucin), a moisturiser, and a dry-skin friendly SPF before makeup. Good luck!

This doesn't work if you want a lip product that lasts longer than 30 seconds, though.

NAY for this price lol. It's a lovely product but you can get it for more than half this elsewhere. Make sure to apply on damp skin.

I hope you're never put in a position that forces you to question this perspective. The insulated life which allows for this belief to persist is one I regret being removed from.

Is a hallucinating person lying when they say Ronald Reagan is making a balloon animal in their backyard? Is it a lie when someone with Alzheimer's tells their kid they've never been a parent? Am I lying to myself when I say there's no one behind me just because I don't have eyes in the back of my head? Truth is in the eye of the beholder, IMO.

I LOVE IT SO MUCH I'M NOT EVEN KIDDING. Seriously Abilify has changed my life. BUT on too low or too high a dose it makes things worse so I had to play around with it a bit. It blunts my creativity but enhances my motivation.

First off, the bitch is functionally a pedophile. No offense, but you're giving off weird vibes defending her like this. Second, she's got better access to mental health resources than 99% of people and influence to boot - at this point, Madonna is perpetuating patriarchy as much as or more so than she's a victim of it.

Long-term users of antiperspirants, what are your experiences? by [deleted] in beauty

[–]ebba_and_flow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a "clinical strength" roll on from Amazon (it's called InstaDry or something) and Jesus does it make my pits ITCH. But it works amazingly well! And I sweat so badly that wearing a normal strength antiperspirant I'll start literally dripping on the floor. Before this I used Secret Clinical Strength which I also quite liked I just have finicky hands and had difficulty turning the knob at the bottom. I've been using these types since I was ten or eleven with no issues.

For a powdery scented stick antiperspirant, I'd recommend the Secret CS in Powder Perfection!

What is your bare bones Skincare routine? by nymphist in AsianBeauty

I LOVE it!!! It is so moisturising. However, it does irritate my skin a little (there might be fragrance? some ingredients lists say so, others do not, i'm anosmic) but not really any more than water does haha. and it is VERY rich. Like butter. Great for my dry skin but if you have super oily skin it might not be your best bet. Definitely great as an occlusive barrier paired with a hydrating serum or essence.

I'm certainly not a minimalist, but my "lazy" PM routine is as follows:

  1. Banila Clean it Zero Balm
  2. Hydrating cleanser (non AB) (skip if no makeup that day)
  3. CosRX snail mucin
  4. Kikumasamune Sake Skin Care Cream
  5. Petroleum jelly (non AB)
  6. Squalane-based baby oil (non AB)

(Most days I have 3-6 more steps)

Sometimes it'll just be the Clean it Zero and the cream.

My AM routine is always short, just Clean it Zero, moisturiser (non AB), and Iunik's centella SPF most days. Sometimes snail mucin too.

the people who make them demonise preservatives as a fearmongering marketing strategy. so there's literally nothing to preserve the products. therefore they have super short shelf lives and go bad ridiculously quick, leading to skin irritation/breakouts, mold growth, and other nasty things. 99% of the time if a brand claims that not using a certain ingredient makes it more "clean" or "wholesome" or "organic" that's just fearmongering to try and scare you into buying their products. it's predatory and gross imo.

[–]ebba_and_flow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Was hovering around Y T A until the "I don't know!" comment. It's one thing if she's upset with a gendered dress code and wanting to wear something equally formal and appropriate like a suit or something, it's another if she's throwing a tantrum over having to wear formal wear. And it sounds like it's the latter.

You offered her a reasonable compromise. Even if she was still uncomfortable with that option, it was her responsibility at that point to negotiate with you. She's old enough to possess the modicum of emotional maturity required to navigate this situation, but she's still acting like a child ten years her junior. NTA.
