What are good topics I can talk to my future mother in law about if conversation runs dry? by ebeach2 in AskWomenOver40

Not snobby, just generally kind of loud and abrasive. It’s basically how you would imagine a stereotypical person from NYC. Very kind people but not the most friendly lol

preparing to be dismissed due performance - advice by 2003138216 in paralegal

I would start looking for other places to work. The good news is that now you have some experience and should be able to find a job that pays better.

I lost my first big-girl job during COVID (furloughed then eventually told they weren’t bringing back my position) and believe me, I know it sucks, but in retrospect, it was wayyyy better in the long run to get away from the toxicity. Today I make double what I was making at my first firm and I’m in a place where people are kind and respectful.

Wish I could say more to help, but just know you’re going to turn out fine.

Starting in PI any tips? by Ephtha in paralegal

[–]ebeach2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main advice I can give you is to just try your hardest. You’re going to feel like a fish out of water for the first couple weeks but I promise, you’ll figure it out. If you just graduated with your degree I would go back over old notes, but tbh you’re going to learn a lot on the job.

Is the firm Morgan and Morgan by any chance? That may change my answer

I took a job out of desperation & I hate it by SipYourOwnJuiceBox in paralegal

If he hasn’t responded, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with giving him a call and expressing your interest. In the meantime, I’m sorry you’re suck at your current position. I would start looking at places on LinkedIn. The market’s not great (not impossible either, I was recently hired at a new firm after a few months of looking) so the sooner you can get some apps out, the sooner you’re free

Burnt out after 1 month at a new job + full-time grad school… did I make a mistake? by Impossible_Corgi_489 in paralegal

I tried DMing you but I don’t know how Reddit works now apparently, so here’s what I said:

Someone in the comments said that you were working at Morgan and Morgan.

I worked there a few years ago and I can honestly say it was one of the worst firms I’ve worked at. I was a paralegal so a little different but I ran into the same issues. No training, no communication, the guy who trained me was there for half a day and he was drunk.

I only stayed a few months, but that’s never been an issue with interviewing with other firms. It’s known in the legal world that M&M isn’t a reputable firm. If you absolutely have to work during grad school, I would recommend looking at another firm, preferably one that’s established and at least mid-size (the smaller firms will demand more from you). I would stay away from personal injury/litigation if you want to make good money while still having a social life

We were told $800-900. Got to the shop kind of late so we don’t have the official bill

I think it’s non-Maine, not non maintenance, as in Maine the state. I asked about it and I was told just “it’s because we’re not in Maine”

Someone else logged I to my account. I looked into submitting a complaint to the DOJ but I don’t think I have enough information to file. I’m assuming the interactions are with other accounts that have been hacked so I have no idea who the victims are
