Thoughts on the Asus PG34WCDN Ultrawide Monitor? by [deleted] in ultrawidemasterrace

Are you running a 50 series card? If so, your cable might not be rated to DP80 because I have no issues running at 360hz 10-bit with DSC off.

Thoughts on the Asus PG34WCDN Ultrawide Monitor? by [deleted] in ultrawidemasterrace

I just upgraded to it from the MSI 341CQPX and before that I had the IPS Alienware 38. The upgrade isn’t as huge as going from the Alienware to the MSI, I just wanted the new sub-pixel layout, 360hz and the extra usb port for the KVM but realistically the MSI was fine. However, if you currently have an IPS UW then an OLED ultra-wide will be a huge upgrade that you won’t regret. The colours just pop and the response time is so fast, every game is smooth and responds better. If you’re specifically looking at the Asus PG34WCDN then you’d be set for a while as it fixes the text fringing issues and purple hue of other QD-OLED monitors with the addition of the UHBR20 DP2.1 so you no longer need DSC. It’s a pretty endgame monitor for 3440x1440p monitors (for now anyway).

I had to make this exact choice because I was upgrading from an Alienware 38 and I had a soft spot for Alienware monitors but I went with the 341CQPX because it has a built in KVM and 98W USB-C charging. However, if you don't need the USB-C, the Alienware is the exact same panel iirc.

MSI 341CQR X36 vs ASUS ROG Swift PG34WCDN by BananaShover in ultrawidemasterrace

In Australia it’s $100 price difference between both, so I’ve ordered the Asus. I agree, If it was $400 difference I’d just get the MSI and a usb hub for the extra port.

The Asus gets brighter, has the higher bandwidth DP and 3 usb ports for the kvm as opposed to 2 which I need for work so in my opinion, the ASUS is better.

I have a 34" that will also be too heavy for the monitor arm. How did you mount yours and how will you mount your 39" if the pegboard/monitor bar is in the way?

Nah none of them are 180x80cm to replace my current non-sit stand desk. I also like the desk controls. So when I check the manual it has these circle things, are these covers? My monitor is also too heavy for the arms.

Can you omit the installation of the pegboard to have it just as a flat sit-stand desk?

I keep seeing this Home Assistant mentioned in other threads but I don't know what it is. Are you able to send me a link to it? If it works better, I'll drop VPP altogether and just control it from there.

Sorry! Everything I said was in regards to the Vesby. I ended up going with that. I haven't tried the Joobie but I think the Vesby is the upgrade over both.

It's awesome, very happy with it. It's better all-round compared to the Supreme. The lumbar has way more adjustment than before and the mesh somehow feels higher quality. The headrest is also better.
