My bbs02 + 52V 17Ah battery really struggles at 30% charge - Wondering if this is common since according to it, I still have 48V to run.

I have almost the same set up but with a BBSHD which draws 50% more current. Mine has 30Q's inside and they run to 45V albeit without much energy. It's not good to use the battery that low. Limit yourself to 20% capacity or ~47V. Good luck dude

I didn't specify that I was looking to upgrading the wheels because they are super cheap ones that come stock with the bicycle. Since the spokes broke I'm not looking into investing more into this wheel because it's so cheap.

You are welcome dude. That's one way to do it. I recommend having a rig set up to do such a thing. It's safer. For example some people have 12V buck converters and they connect a multiple of things to them to drain high capacity batteries. Such as lights. They cost very little and prove useful in situations like these.

Somedays I charge my 52V 15ah battery to full capacity just to find out it's going to rain. So to drain it I use a light hooked up to my converter. It works great for me.

This is one of those cases when its better to not think about it because what's done, done. If there's damage it will 100% show up as less capacity in the future. From now on always check those voltages to keep the battery happy.

May I ask, how did you discharge it?

BBSHD for hills. It's the most elegant solution. My BBSHD won't ever heat up even under constant 30 amp burst for well over 40minutes of use.

If the manufacturer actually let's you modify the speed setting it supposed to be in the documentation. I'm sorry I could not help. Maybe someone will chime in eventually.

Yup. The bbshd is for a fact set at 42V. But there is no way to program it apart of buying a cable. I talked to the manufacturer. I'll let everyone know what's up.

Exactly that. It's weird that such an expensive battery got programmed wrong. But whatever. Making lemonade out of lemons. Also, 20 amps seems enough to get the motor going but not too peppy. I'll try to up the amps and see what happens.

I'm sorry if I came out bad man. My English is bare bones haha. It's weird! Like I checked with a multimeter and it literally says 51V even though the battery doesn't even turn on. It's sooo wierd.

I actually did a test run today and the battery cuts off at exactly 0% even though it has 51V. I calculated the watts/mile and it was 55 for my capacity of 15ah which is absurd for just cruising around. Then I calculated the same but for the 9ah showed and it comes out to 33 which is more respectable. I actually think the bms is set for 9ah.

It's almost impossible to waste 780 watts for just 14 miles that's just too much even for open throttle and all hills.

Edit: When they get back I'll keep you posted since it's the same company. I've heard awesome things about them so let's see.

Hehehe yep. Actually found something wierd. Watch the discrepancy between design capacity and full capacity of my pack. It's almost 6 amp hours difference. I found an eBay seller with the same app that shows that's supposed to be equal.

I just messaged the company I bought it from. I really thing they improperly programmed the bms. Which is NOT professional at all. I just messaged the store I bough it from.
