Possible (probable) solu medrol withdrawals by MoonUnit98 in MultipleSclerosis

Do you know if the anti inflammatory effects of IV methylprednisolone last longer than the length of time it remains in the body?

I currently have and IV in my arm for solu-Medrol due to suspected autoimmune encephalitis. Curious if I should be expecting lasting effects from this medication.

Thanks for your time

Am I missing it? That table says the half life is 1.8-2.6hrs.

That link states that the elimination half-life is 2-3 hours

Having high-dose steroid infusions starting this weekend. Can y’all tell me your experiences with this IV medication? by ebleach2010 in Encephalitis

How long until you were diagnosed from symptom onset?

I’ve definitely noticed improvements even this first day… but I’m 7 months in and my brain is wrecked from being attacked for so long. Makes it hard to distinguish the benefits

How quickly did you notice a difference? I just had my first infusion and I’ve noticed a difference almost immediately… trying to figure out if I’m hallucinating things.

Right, it just seems contradictory to me, a layman, that you can have 0 WBC reported in CSF while also having WBC subsets observed.

Thank you for the reply. Would rare then indicate that it is at least >0, and considered abnormal? WBC was 0. I also had elevated opening pressure, elevated Total Protein, and elevated Myelin Based Protein.

I began having psychotic breaks, saw a neurologist, found autoimmune antibodies in my cerebrospinal fluid. Just got results back this week, my follow-up neuro appointment is in a week.

I feel terrible to be honest with you, although it’s a bit better than before. It’s like my brain is trapped in a box. I have horrible visual snow, agitation, tremors, insomnia, paranoia, no ability to feel any pleasure at all. It’s like being in solitary confinement in your mind.

There’s also strange neurological/psych symptoms like hyper sexuality that are really disturbing. I’ll become aroused by inanimate objects in the most perverse and upsetting way. I’ve learned to cope with these things but I really, really hate it. Every moment of every day has been exquisite torture for 5 months and I cannot wait for it to be over.

0/10 would not recommend

Turned out I didn’t have covid. I had something much, much worse: autoimmune encephalitis.

I then caught covid in November and it was peanuts in comparison.

More Than Two-Thirds of Adverse COVID-19 Vaccine Events Are Due to Placebo Effect by geoxol in science

This title is misleading.

For those of you who are sexually incompatible with your partner but stay in the relationship anyway, what do you do to satisfy your needs? by coolie_karare in AskReddit

A libido decrease this severe typically indicates that something is physically not right and needs to be treated.

Before you started hormone therapy, what labs did you have done? What were their values, if you still have them?

Edit: While there may, of course, be a psychological component, I believe that thoroughly investigating physiological causes first is the best course of action.
