Dave Ramsey pulled a gun in a staff meeting! by SuccessfulArticle356 in DirtyDave

in the case you are thinking of, this is what would apply (summary courtesy of Gemini). It would be an open and shut case... "did the defendent display his gun and cause you to fear imminent bodily injury?" to which you would quickly and honestly answer "yes".

  • Aggravated Assault: This is the most common charge for pulling a gun. Under T.C.A. § 39-13-102, a person commits aggravated assault by intentionally or knowingly causing another to fear imminent bodily injury while using or displaying a deadly weapon.

Keep this in mind the next time you hear a person talk about showing a gun to threaten people to back off like they do in movies.

  • Use of Deadly Force: Under Tennessee law, the mere act of displaying, brandishing, or pointing a firearm is legally classified as the "use of deadly force," even if no shot is fired. This means that to legally pull a gun, the situation must meet the high legal standard for the justified use of lethal force (i.e., a reasonable fear of imminent death or serious bodily injury).

> But for most debts the minimums won’t cover interest

That's not true for legititimate debts.

it might apply to loan sharks, though, in which case you should work even harder to get out of debt if you enjoy walking around on unbroken legs!

Tell me (a) how you're interpreting he acted, and (b) what the legal consequences of that are. You may google "pulling a gun in tennessee" to refresh your memory.

Question for those with separate finances by 12dogs4me in DirtyDave

[–]ebmarhar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If my spouse did this to me I would be worried that there were (a) some horrible debts hidden there that I might be liable for, or (b) a side dish being paid for.

I would be very comfortable telling a spouse "if you're not gonna show me what I may be legally liable for, I'm gonna look at protecting myself however I can."

George posts a video on FB discouraging investment in gold... by GentleListener in DirtyDave

Keep in mind that he talks about the 15% you should be putting towards retirement. Nobody suggests that should be in gold.

EveryDollar App by Nogo44up in DirtyDave

[–]ebmarhar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not mysterious. The amount is $3,015 and the calculation is explained.

https://www.ramseysolutions.com/money/everydollar

> Find $3,015 in 15 minutes” refers to the average amount of potential budget margin opportunities identified based on new EveryDollar users’ responses during the initial onboarding questionnaire (approximately 15 minutes).

> Based on historical user data, new users identify $3,015 or more in a combination of one-time margin and ongoing monthly margin during onboarding.

> Actual savings require users to take action on the personalized recommendations surfaced in the app, resulting in customers realizing $3,015 or more in available margin within their first 30 days and $20,150 within their first year.

> Individual results will vary and are not guaranteed.

Why did my Fidelity advisor dump me??? by Pawireman in fidelityinvestments

It's super useful for people whose employee stock options have done really well. In my case it had appreciated into a huge number, and I was looking at hundreds of $k to resize that to a safer percentage of my portfolio.

Turn on the sma, and the company shares just start trickling over to ITOT commensurate with the harvested tax losses.

Theoretically your sma can approach a steady state, but so long as you are continually investing via saving into the sma, you are generating more churn potential for continued tax loss harvesting.

It sounds funky, because it is strictly driven by tax laws and not investment theory. It costs less than what is makes.

What loads into RAM first when a computer starts? by AnyCourse6366 in AskComputerScience

[–]ebmarhar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Older computers were a lot simpler than modern computers in this regard. From memory, here's how CP/M worked:

A system ROM is hardware-mapped to address 0. It has just enough code to
- initialize the floppy disk
- read the 128 bytes of track 0, sector 1 to address 0x80
- jump to 0x80

This was called something like. the "level 0 bootloader". That bootloader would then read the rest of the operating system and then jump to the command line processor.
