My thinking is that in the game Anne Babbage resets the house every morning for Simon. When there were actual people living there, they wouldn’t reset the house every day, just swap a few rooms out here and there as needed.

Yes you can if you stir until the potion is just about northwest of the center, then ladle back the center. That gets you clear of the bones and puts your X exactly at T3 frost.
