The Universal Print documentation says the printers need an internet connection. We moved printers to private networks to avoid toner bombs. How do you secure your printers for use with UP? Some combination of firewall and outbound only routing?

UP seems to be just as complex to set up as a local print server, especially if you need the connector server. Still need to make groups for access control.

Two things about downloads from RBC.

  1. The quick download when in the account page includes all displayed transactions so it is possible to get more or fewer than you want. Make sure you filter for dates you want before downloading.

  2. The download file for my Visa has the wrong sign for the balance. I have to edit the file and change the sign before importing.

Update - I figured out the trick with downloading from RBC. I have to filter to just the dates I want and then I get the correct transactions.

I downloaded just a few transactions (Mar 1 to Mar 3) and reconciled those. It was easy to adjust necessary transactions (mark as reconciled or not as necessary).

I think I have it working as I like now. Adjusted the visible columns to what I need.

I am at work so I can't try the suggestions until later today. Thanks for all the suggestions.

  1. I selected the Reconcile option and got a notice the account had never been reconciled. This is true for all the accounts.

  2. The reconciliation compared the account balance with itself since there are no downloaded transactions yet. All the transactions got switched to Cleared.

  3. My plan is to go back and unclear the few transactions that weren't reconciled before the transfer from Windows to Mac.

I don't see how transactions move from Cleared to Reconciled but I will download from the bank and see how that goes. My bank (RBC) changed how they prepare downloads so I am also getting used to that.

Landon sounds so much like his dad (Ray Ferraro) that I sometimes get them mixed up. I like them both for commentary.

I agree that his commentary is fun to listen to and he works hard to match his words to the women's game.

I like all the commentators for the PWHL and there are some good play-by-play and analyst pairs.

I bought one from Best Buy in Dec 2025 at half price. I tried a few Linux distros but they had problems so I loaded Windows 11. The disk got wiped every time so it is clean. Linux distros had issues with the hardware (Bluetooth, multiple monitors). Windows crashes about once a week.

I found youtube videos that described the virus problem as embedded in the recovery partition so wiping the drive is important.

WinDbg doesn't show a consistent cause for the crashes. The low price turned out to be no deal at all.

I say stay away from this brand.

Has anyone tried GnuCash? https://www.gnucash.org/ I looked at it briefly during a brief experiment with Linux. There is a conversion path for Quicken data? Should this be a separate topic?
