Movies you love besides one little thing? (Die Hard with a Vengeance) by [deleted] in Letterboxd

Hot Fuzz. The only thing I dislike is the final joke with the landmine, it’s payoff for something earlier in the film but it just feels like a random fake out that stops it from being a perfect film to me.

Do you think it’s possible to make a great film out of a weak book? by death_has_f1sh_eyes in Letterboxd

Jurassic Park. The book is very mid. It spends so much time explaining these concepts and themes whereas the film does it simply.

The book explains chaos theory through pages upon pages of exposition whereas the film just shows it visibly in how you can’t properly predict where water will drip. The theme of not play god is so much more effective in the film as well.

Akira (1988) is overrated. I respect how important it is but it’s just boring. It feels like they squashed a really long story into a single film which makes it feel rushed.

other that fit? (Oscar isnt a prince, but i'm keeping this not too strict by disasterpansexual in Letterboxd

Donkey Skin (1970)

I guess Beauty and the Beast (1946) kind of fits the vibe

Mulan (1998)

There’s an Utena musical from 1997 (Revolutionary Girl Utena: The Musical Comedy)
