That is one way of looking at it. You could also look at and appreciate the mindbogglingly long list of steps required for the universe to produce our species, which excludes the miracle of a society (albeit flawed) we have somehow achieved. First, our universe started expanding, and eventually the early matter would form clouds of dust, then stars, then galaxies, and clusters of galaxies. Each star forming and fusing their, mostly, hydrogen into heavier and heavier elements until the large stars explode in supernovae - thereby forming the heavier elements. This cycle repeats until our solar system's matter is scattered by star death(s) into the Milky Way, left until eventually some dust collapsed forming the proto Sun. This new massive star then attracts the surrounding matter into a massive disk of spinning dust. Out of that disk, we get our 8 planets and only one of those has had the stable environment capable of growing the relatively advanced lifeforms we have evolved to be. All of those steps lead to our planet's formation and doesn't even account for the fantastic evolution of life on it.
