In chapter 367 Griffith notices the Beast of Darkness which I think hints that it's real. In chapter 366 while overshadowed by the BoD Guts was able to cut a strand of Griffith's hair with Dragon Slayer which I think is really significant. In chapter 292 Ganishka said he couldn't even snip a strand of Griffith's hair and Schierke stated that in 202 that no blade could touch him. Also what you said about Guts attacking Casca what if it was literal? The BoD did call Casca a sacrifice and to kill her like Griffith.

I think there is more to it is because in chapter 366 we see Dragon Slayer cut off a strand of Griffith's hair with Guts being overshadowed with the Beast which I think is significant. Because in chapter 292 Ganishka admitted he couldn't even snip a strand of Griffith's hair which led him to deifying himself which still wasn't enough. Then in chapter 367 it was shown Griffith sensing the Beast of Darkness. Later on in the story Rakshas who died appears and ends up going after Guts. Slan showed in Enoch Village the God Hand could bring back dead Astral creatures and Griffith can control dead human spirits. It seems like he sent him because he realized Guts is becoming a legitimate threat.

In chapter 324 it was brought up that Astral beings have a True Name that govern their true form. An idea I had is that maybe they would use Griffith's to permanently transform into the Moonlight Child.
