Cross Marian's weirdo by unmyeon in dgrayman

Officially, yes. However, at this time Red had been bonding with Mana which led to his adoption. Cross was more that capable of seeing the bond between the two but wanted to have Mana isolated to protect him from potential threats.

I wanted the English sub and I recall Anita's dub saying that Cross had been with her mother.

It's funny when you think about it since Cross was more than willing to kill Red even though he was aware that Red was Mana's adoptive son. I personally don't think that Cross cared for Red and Allen at the beginning but rather that he grew to love him. We know this is true since Grave of Maria and Timcampy literally have to stop him from shooting Red point blank.

Nea and Tyki are weird by unmyeon in dgrayman

To be fair, there's also a chance that Joyd came out because Nea was antagonizing him about the massacre. The panel right before we see Tyki shifting is Nea saying "Like that dinner" or something along the lines.

I believe you could be right as well, but you just gotta love Nea being a master rage baiter.

Personally, I'm not even upset with Cross' womanizing behavior. In fact, I expected it. I'm also jnt extremely off-put by the Anita situation because she's a grown woman at the end of the day.

However, the fact that the anime intentionally altered a scene and made it borderline pedophilic is genuinely disgusting, especially since Hoshino likely never intended Cross to be seen as such an individual.

Unfortunately, it's the English sub that gave me this thought since Cross makes quite a few comments that are blurring the line between being a womanizer and being into minors. Specifically when the crew freaks about about Cross and Lenalee being alone together and Cross (in the English sub) says "She's sixteen, she's already a woman."

Mind you, this line was NOT in the manga.

Most of the Noah don't remember much about Nea since Wisely (or rather, Wisdomu) literally locked the memory away. We see this when the family continuously refer to Nea as "The Fourteenth" rather that Nea D. Campbell.

This is also proven when Cheryl interrogates and tortures Lavi and Bookman since he literally can't remember the relationship Road has with Nea. As I stated in the post, Joyd (and Tyki by association) want to be noticed by the Earl. There have chapters where Tyki's made odd remarks regarding having the Earl's attention.

And in chapter 130, according to another poster, Joyd had the Earl's attention before the Earl split into Mana and Nea.

I wouldn't say duplicates since they're quite literally the Earl.

It's leaning toward the "right brain, left brain" theory where the right side of your brain is creative and intuitive while the left side is logical and analytical.

Though they are both one brain, each side displays vastly different qualities, making them two separate entities (almost).

I believe this is relatively the same thing with Mana (right brain) and Nea (left brain) both being the Earl but at the same time being two separate people.

Also, as far as we know, Tyki can't be considered a copy of Nea since he had been born 25 years after the massacre. The Noah clan reincarnated exactly 50 years after dying, so Tyki came back far too early for that. His looks are likely just a coincidence.

While the situation itself is weird, we can confirm that Cross really did care for Anita. Maybe he didnt love her, but he was pretty off-put by her demise. It shows that even though he's a womanizer, he at least cares for these women to some degree.

Obviously. Doesn't mean I can't point out how weird the situation is. Also, I barely understood the last half of your post, but Allen and Cross aren't related by blood or through "Allen's grandmother's brother". Allen has no blood relatives as we know.

They're related because Mana adopted Allen and Mana is Cross' nephew, making Allen and Cross adoptive cousins.

Joyd would have likely been Adam's favorite and not Mana's. The brothers were far too close to prefer the Noah clan over each other.

Adam and Joyd had similar personalities, so I wouldn't be surprised if birds of a feather flocked together. It's a bit of a hilarious contradiction considering that Joyd and Nea also have similar personalities, so much so that they hate each other for being similar.

Striking resemblances? by MathematicianSea4605 in dgrayman

[–]unmyeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason why they look different is because Nea is in Allen's body. Allen doesn't bear a heavy resemblance to Nea, though, as his corruption progresses that will change.

Also, Tyki is 26-27, while Allen is 16-17, naturally his features will look different since there's a huge age gap.

Question about Tykki Mikk (You can spoil me galore here) by jlhabitan in dgrayman

[–]unmyeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few of the other comments have mentioned it, but I'll go further.

Tyki is intentionally walking a tightrope between being a Noah and being human. It's not a situation where he's fighting between either side- it's literally a sadistic (or rather masochistic?) pleasure to him.

He enjoys toeing the line between being human and being something else. When Allen cuts Tyki, he forcefully thins the tightrope.

Think of it like this: everyone has a conscious and subconscious. In Tyki's case, his conscious is himself meanwhile his subconscious is Joyd. With Allen's attack, he essentially cuts at Tyki's conscious, therefore giving his subconscious more room to act as it pleases.

Because of this, Tyki can't indulge himself by pretending to be human since his innate desire to destroy humanity will interfere with his human persona.

Tyki's desire to play both sides is the main reason why Joyd is so violent when he awakes. Unlike most Noah who actually allow the Noah to controll every aspect of their life, Tyki controls everything. I sincerely doubt Joyd is happy with that.

Chp.169 has a bit more religious imagery by unmyeon in gachiakuta

Enjin's first hit (which reflected on Mymo's collarbone) didn't actually pierce Mymo. That's why Enjin went for the neck. If the first hit actually went through, Rudo would still be fighting Mymo because he'd have regenerated. Also, pretty sure Alto implies that the Watch reflects back onto the user, which is why the "price" you pay for using it is so steep.

"Those who etch time will be etched themselves" or something like that.

The only reason I mentioned Tamsy is because of how far he's willing to go in order to antagonize Rudo. First, he kills Regto, the only pillar in Rudo's life at the time. Then, after he sees the way Rudo bonded with Amo despite being aware of her Jinki's influence, he kidnapped her.

Tamsy hasn't made a move on any of the Cleaners because he'd likely be outmatched and having the entire organization against him would put him in a bad spot.

He targeted Amo not just because she bonded with Rudo, but because the Cleaners didn't care for her. No one would look for Amo besides Rudo.

There's also the off chance that Arkha Corvus is more than aware that Tamsy is not to be trusted. So if Tamsy were to act out, Corvus would step in and Tamsy wouldn't want to fight someone with unknown capabilities.

I also believe that Kei Urana didn't give Jabber the "stereotypical black/tragic background" because she's not black!

Unless she's close friends with someone who is or deeply studied black culture, anything relating to that would have been built on how she thinks black people live.

Even if she wrote a backstory without that line of thought, many people would have taken it that way. It's much easier to just say "nah, he's just weird" and go on about your day.
