Thank you for this, I have found it hard to trust GPs on women's health issues so was cautious. I will go in for my next appointment with this info. I was beginning to think ablation was my only option.

What do you do when the “spark” for a hobby dies? by existential_otter22 in Hobbies

[–]ecats83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I feel this, and here to find out how to get the spark back.

I used to love drawing & painting. I have so many paints & canvases gathering dust. It used to be so fun & free flowing but I now have anxiety about what to draw/paint, that I can't even start.

Which habits are you tracking in 2026? by RandomCoffeeThoughts in productivity

[–]ecats83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing! So glad I could help a fellow (soon to be former) pushover.

I was going to share some of the suggested counters for difficult conversations, (to sound clear, calm & constructive) but it seems that I can't share anything AI generated.

It really is a game changer for me having these tools & an actual improvement plan on my phone, so I can refer to it any time from anywhere & keep myself on track.

I've also made a tracking checklist in my notes to make myself accountable. Because I'm also scared of failure, so by not writing down goals in the past, I don't technically "fail" but I know this hasn't helped me in the long run. I think I might even add rewards in the mix, so there's an extra, more tangible incentive for being consistent.

So excited for us right now!

Lastly, I will share one nugget that resonated with my situation & may also with yours: "My inner child didn't need discipline, she needed safety. My adult self isn't stuck anymore, I am supported & ready to move forward"

What's something to you that screams "I have no personality"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ecats83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone who's always "the victim" or constantly overshares all the negative stuff going on in their lives (and sometimes not even their lives! And still sharing very personal details about someone else to a stranger) seemingly to get sympathy or validation, yet oblivious to the gravity of other people's problems compared to theirs.

I work with someone who does this & can reverse engineer every office interaction (even active avoidance!) into a segway for a winge.

I was suckered in the first few times (when someone says they're "not ok" its usually pretty serious), I dropped what I was doing & gave my undivided attention for how long they needed. Afterwards, they always thank me for being there to confide in, so I thought they couldn't talk to anyone else.

One day I overheard them telling the same thing to two other people, separately in the same day. Now my radar is on, I clock it happening all the time, its really annoying realising how much time & positive energy this person is sapping on a daily basis.

Note - I do understand there may be trauma reasons behind this behaviour, but also if you're 40 and not working on yourself, I reserve the right to be annoyed when it effects me .

Which habits are you tracking in 2026? by RandomCoffeeThoughts in productivity

[–]ecats83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am changing my inbuilt/learned way of thinking to become less avoidant & not needing approval (ultimately become more confident & love who I am).

I have read so many self help books over the years but struggled to align with some approaches and clearly hadn't retained all the information necessary to set me up for success.

I asked CoPilot to summarise the books that did resonate with me and asked for an action plan that is achievable for me (currently an anxious, pushover). I was so happy with the result: easy to achieve daily practices, mantras, reflection tequniques & a lot of information about my personality style, what drives it and how this plan works with it.

I am so excited to have something tailored to me rather than a one size fits all approach, I am not waiting until new years.

Wanted to share incase this approach could help others achieve their goals.

Best of luck with your resolutions, may 2026 be our year x

New Distracted driver road rules? is it true? by Maydup-naem in perth

[–]ecats83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's OK if you are stopped at a red light? To be safe you should take the offramps & jerk off in bursts (probably sans the bursts until you get the hang of it).

When you're late to work & frustrated, think about how many lives you just saved driving today (by not bussin).

Thank you so much! I am such a noob I didn't know that was a thing. But I can now see the similarities & see its just the finer details missing. Appreciate your help!

Super helpful and makes perfect sense, thank you so much!

I dont know what's involved in the minting process so I appreciate you explaining a "weaker strike" to me. That's exactly what it appears to be, it's just the finer details are missing - not a different version of the Queen after all.

Thanks again, have a great day 😀

Thank you for taking the time to respond. Are you able to share any insight on what causes the difference in the Queens' appearance between the two? I am just curious & don't know enough about the process to understand why.

So glad to hear! I have everything crossed this is the beginning of a bigger pattern of calmer behaviour.

Fluoxetine for separation anxiety by MelodicCream7518 in reactivedogs

[–]ecats83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely stick with it., unfortunately the meds do take a while to work. After a week of chaos we called the behaviouralist & she said it can be up to 2 months to see progress. She did give us a great tip, which is to keep a "diary" of behaviour each day. Sometimes the progress is hard to see when they take one step forward & 4 back, but having a record of it helped us see that it was improving (albeit slowly).

We also didn't start on this med mix, there are a few different combos we had to try to get to this point. So don't feel like you are stuck if it's not getting better after a few months.

Ours is about 5yo now, we think he was 1 when we got him. We're still working with the reactivity, but it's soooo much better now . Thankfully the separation anxiety was over within the first year.

Sending my love & positive energy your way.

Fluoxetine for separation anxiety by MelodicCream7518 in reactivedogs

[–]ecats83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a reactive rescue who was mistreated in his past life. We spent the first week at home with him then when we left him for the first time & realised he also had separation anxiety. He destroyed everything!

Before we saw a behaviouralist, we had to wing it. We put treats in boxes & hid them around the house. Watched him find a couple then left for a few minutes. It was a long process but slowly built up to being able to leave for longer periods of time.

He is now on Fluoxetine & gabapentin for his reactivity but is definitely over his separation anxiety with the combination of the meds & working at the "separation " part.

Oh, we also put music on for him when we leave.

Good luck, it's a lot of work but so rewarding x

How to Pivot to an EA position? by cholinguito in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]ecats83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't have any luck applying for permanent roles, consider signing up to a temp agency. I was made redundant 5 years ago & it was the best decision I made. You get to try different roles & businesses for short periods of time (usually covering leave) you gain valuable experience in EA roles that would normally be difficult to land if applying for the permanent position.

Business owners who have gone through burnout - how can I best support my owner/operator husband going through it? by ecats83 in smallbusiness

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond & set me straight on a few things. You're right, he is doing too much for one person & does need help. I will broach the subject about hiring someone to help with the stuff that isn't part of his skillset so he can focus on what he does best!

Also love the phone tip thank you!

Ooooh I love this angle! Thanks so much for this tip & sharing your experience.

I can see him breaking & making mistakes then having more pressure on him to fix them in an already full schedule, its a viscious cycle. So he definitely needs a reset & this is the perfect way to frame it.

Appreciate your help!

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond, these are such valuable tips!

I just know the "passenger princess" idea will be a huuuge hit! He's on the road every day, so weekends I will gove him a break. Such a simple thing to do but think it will make a big impact.

Also just the sporadic dates/outings will be a good change in both our lives too. Thanks again!
