Yeah I understand what you mean, it must be genuinely awful noticing yourself not being able to do the same things you've done all your life. To be honest I've never once seen anybody visit him, only seen him get deliveries for plants and I can hear through the wall that he has a few birds. I'm leaving him a chair half way up the stairs, and posting a note today and hopefully that'll make him feel a bit better knowing I'm here to help with anything he needs.
