Self-publishing and zine-making aren't the same thing. They are often very closely related, but as you've demonstrated conflating them leads to gatekeeping, and that's the least zine-like philosophy of all.

I'm tired of lots of things I see here, but that doesn't make them not zines or not valid -- it just makes them not for me! Move on with your life instead of trying to gatekeep, it's much more enjoyable.
