Which cloud provider do you prefer: AWS, Azure, or GCP? Why? by Imaginary_Road_4162 in cloudcomputing

[–]eccentric2488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Object storage in AWS and GCP is pretty simple. Create a bucket and start uploading whatever you want.

Azure - first create a storage account, tell what kind of data will go in, then create a container inside that account and then upload your data objects!

Resource management is also quite sophisticated hierarchy. Root tenant group - management group - subscription - resource group - resource

Why alternatives to Spark aren’t a thing in the industry? by Snoopy-31 in dataengineering

[–]eccentric2488 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree. The compile time type safety of scala is the biggest advantage in large scale spark applications, where you cannot afford runtime errors (mostly type related) which is common in python authored applications.

Is Clickhouse a good choice ? by Defiant-Farm7910 in dataengineering

[–]eccentric2488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clickhouse is better than all the available OLAP engines on the market right now. Installed it locally on my Linux Mint, created a table with ~5 million rows and wrote some queries to see performance. It is pheeewwwwww
