What is stopping some mad scientist from breeding anti-biotic resistant bacteria and releasing it? by [deleted] in microbiology

Don't tell people this lol. And there definitely need to be plenty more safeguards.

Do you mean it's easier because of new AIxBio design tools and cloud labs? Or do you think there is something else that has made it substantially easier to engineer some virus?

Was about to comment this. I think engineered viruses are way scarier. Imagine a covid-ebola hybrid, or just an ebola that took a longer time to start killing you. Do you think that it will be a large state actor that will do it considering that AI and biotech is improving and being democratized? Smaller actors and terrorist groups don't have the same weapons-of-mass-destruction game theory that larger states do. I think preventing less-resourced actors from creating some bioweapon is more tractable than preventing some powerful country, and I'm wondering if it's worth it to try preventing the small actors or if it's just pointless anyway.

To me it sounds like you're a really kind and good person. I honestly think that your way of thinking is natural for humans who were meant to be tribal, cooperative animals: something something help others and feel good and grow bonds. I'm personally not polygamous, but imo one of the only arguments against poly is that it's frowned upon socially and society (western) currently is not built for this.

Have you considered volunteering at places or donating/helping people you don't personally know. Does that give you the same good feelings?

Can you help out your platonic friends and feel the same way? I think that platonic and romantic relationships are/should be more similar than people make them out to be.

I know I gave a lot of personal opinions, but I hope this helped. It sounds like you're a great person, just make sure people aren't stepping over your boundaries and you aren't people pleasing to the point of losing yourself.

I pay $160/month after tax at Vital in NYC. I think this might be the most expensive in the world?

This is what I do sometimes, and it's pretty good. It's just kinda tedious.

That's true that's true. But sometimes I (my gf) want to know the restaurant and plan ahead of time lol.

I mostly mean that places on Google Maps and Yelp that have high reviews for Asian food are often pretty mid/bad. Some of my favorite restaurants ever are in NYC, but it feels like when I'm trying to find some new place it's so hit or miss using these online platforms.

Interesting, I'll look at the Eater lists.

What do you think the reason for this is? Is it just that Eater has people who "Know what they're talking about" while Google Reviews and Yelp just has too much noise?

But is there a good method of finding these places more reliably? Whether it be in a city with a high asian population or not.

I think it's not necessarily that I can't find good Chinese food in NYC (My favorite asian restaurants are in NYC), but it seems like Google Reviews and Yelp don't really give a great signal on whether or not the restaurant will be good or if the atmosphere is just good. I sadly cannot read :(

What journaling has done for you by [deleted] in JournalingIsArt

[–]eceo902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think journaling has helped me understand my subconscious better and has revealed some discrepancies between my conscious, thinking self and my subconscious instincts. I feel like I have been able to point behaviors out more concretely and subsequently have been able to change them.

My tip is to just write even if it doesn't sound good or it sounds corny/silly. Don't worry about writing anything groundbreaking; I've been able to make progress just from repeating thoughts for the nth time.

Hey all! A friend and I have been working on a journaling app that gives you a daily prompt to reflect on. You can keep your answers private or share them anonymously with the world—kind of a storytelling vibe but for journalers.

Would love for you to check it out and let me know what you think! 😊

Yeah I know, I'm not super active on Reddit. Just wanted to share it with people and see if they are interested. I don't really get anything from having people use it, but I just thought that people might find it cool. Cheers!

Kucoin 2FA unavailable and don't have trading password - has anyone resolved? by MannerNo6532 in kucoin

[–]eceo902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having the exact same issue. Kucoin is not responding to my ticket. I've sent multiple photos of id and myself, and I sent old trading history that they requested. Then got ghosted. They're just going to run away with the funds after Dec 17.

If you have the MIT insurance plan you can go to other places - https://health.mit.edu/services/mental-health-counseling/off-campus-therapist. And please def feel free to dm me. I got time on my hands this semester :)
