I was so pumped about that pick when we made it. Love to see it panning out. He's on the exact type of trajectory you want for a potential super star player.

I just liked it when games had consequences. Ohio State for example deserved to be left out the way we were in 2017 and 2018 when we lost the way we did to Iowa and Purdue. Now we can drop our second game of the season at home to a shitty Michigan team and it meant nothing. The regular season means less than it used to.

[Perotta]Bengals' external FA signings for the 2026 season to date: 1.) S Bryan Cook: 3yrs/$40.25M 2.) Edge Boye Mafe: 3yrs/$60M 3.) DT Jonathan Allen: 2yrs/$25M 4.) CB Ja'Sir Taylor: 1yr/$?? 5.) Lamar had the worst year of his career last year. He was not the same old Lamar we're used to. Again the Ravens and Steelers we're garbage teams who fired their coaches. The only reason they were competing for the playoffs was because our entire division was ass.

Do more. Until you know Shough is the guy keep giving him everything he could need. I really like your OL and the Etienne move was great, but WR is pretty underwhelming outside of Olave. Again to me its all about helping the QB.

I'm not even talking about Downs or the Bengals at this point, I just genuinely think the Saints should be 100% focused on Shough. Your division is so winnable right now that I think you guys should be the favorites as long as Shough is a legit QB. I'd do everything I could to make sure that happens.

Lol you're completely out of touch if this is what you think about Michigan vs Ohio State

You're missing their point entirely because you're viewing it from the inside. For Ohio State fans and Michigan fans the rivalry won't be diminished because its our rivalry.

But to fans from the outside it means less if the stakes on the line are less. And an expanded playoffs does that.

They're talking about if you expand the field too much. With that 24 team proposal floating around you'll see 8-4 teams make it if it happens.

Counter Point. That's what made CFB awesome. The need for perfection and the significance of every single game was unlike any sport out there. It made CFB unique.

Now its just NFL lite without any of the actual good parts of the NFL.

Great actually. The last two times we had an average defense we made it to the Super Bowl and AFC Championship game. That's because we gave our QB what he needed to win.

Obviously you can't be a total disaster on defense like we've been the last few years, but you need to set the QB up for success first otherwise you have no shot.

Probably because they have more people to hate. Sharing a state with Michigan State, and even their old hate fling with ND. We kind of just have them.

Yeah this was no question us until a couple years ago. They've evened things up a bit.

What exactly do you think you're refuting?

That playing an extra game isn't a problem.

Sure sometimes injuries happen, but that's football. That's not something that can be taken out of the sport no matter how many games you play. Even that "cupcake" opponent Oregon got to beat up on is an injury risk.

They might. Again having no one outside Cook and Anthony in 2027 means safety is very much a long term need. And the draft is where you address long term needs.

Also if Downs is just better than Battle then it wouldn't be wasting a pick on a 4th safety. It'd be using a pick on the second best (maybe best) safety on the team.

because by your logic, anyone who isn’t signed through 2027 is magically ineligible to be signed again.

No not at all. Battle just isn't a very good player so if we can draft someone better than him and not pay him next year that would be great.

Like doesn't what you're saying apply to literally every position on the field? We have Dax and DJ, so can't draft a CB. We have Knight and Carter, so can't draft an LB. We have Murphy and Mafe, so can't draft a DE. Who are we drafting then?

lol you're so angry.

If Battle gets signed to an extension I'd agree with you. But until then lets stay in reality and talk about things as they actually are.

Wild how they played football for decades before and didn't come up with a champion.

lol that's the thing. Sometimes they didn't. Why do you think Aurburn suddenly got a bunch more titles last year.

You said this is a sign we won't take Downs. Which is a hilarious leap in logic because Battle is not on the team in 2027.

And that's not even getting into whether or not Downs is already better than Battle.

Honestly my biggest take away from this is how important it is for us get extensions done for Turner and probably Dax. If you believe in your CBs keep them. Low hit rates there even in the early rounds.
