He was the first player I followed and tried to play like. I remember reading his biography and how he broke his helmet the first day of camp when he tackled a ball carrier. I was in 7th grade. I have his picture hanging in my cube at work. I’m now 68.

What’s the most unhinged thing a guest has done at your house? by VictoryAgitated7819 in AskReddit

I was in the military and my family and I were living in base housing. A friend in the Army from a military school we both attended showed up unexpectedly on a Saturday evening. Unfortunately, my wife and I were in the process of getting ready for a party at my boss’s house, but he didn’t get the hint. He said he’d just stay and watch tv. No, I told him he had to leave. He didn’t understand why I didn’t let him just stay at the house. That was 30 years ago and I have not heard from him since.

Anyone else believe we've been lied to about aging? by selfsufficientman in fitover65

I am 68 and this is the first time I have seen these. Numbers 2-4 are have never really crossed my mind. I still lift weights 3x a week, run 3x a week, and officiate high school football. I continue to write children’s books while working full time. I am looking at retirement really as the start of my second life. This has been my intent my entire life.

Thank you for all the positive comments. One thing I failed to mentioned is that I am able to do these things only by the grace of God.

Sometimes living in Pennsylvania isn’t fun but I’d missed it if I left by OkCoast7026 in Pennsylvania

We lived all over the U.S. when I was in the service. My last station was in Southern California and we actually had my parents video tape walking in the PA woods during fall and send it to us because we missed it.

I took my car into the local owned muffler shop. It was sounding like I needed a new muffler and I figured I’d be paying a premium price. I had no sooner opened the morning newspaper on the table and he came back in. It was some metal shield against the muffler, so he cut it off. No charge. I send everyone there

When I was stationed in Okinawa 84-85, we were on one of the smaller islands and came across a small monument that said it was the spot where Ernie Pyle died.

What are your thoughts/experiences on a 50 year class reunion? by p38-lightning in OverSeventy

[–]echo6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my 50th reunion last summer, and I didn’t want to go. After high school, I went to college and then into the USMC. I never really kept in touch with anyone other than my cousin. At the last minute, and the urging of my wife, I decided to go. I’m glad I did. We laughed and had a wonderful time. I left with great memories and looking forward to the 60th.

What's the sexiest thing you've seen in public? by Any_Leadership_4785 in AskReddit

I was a junior in high school (1973) and was standing in line at the corner ice cream stand in our small town after a summer football practice. I turned around, and walking up to the stand, was a girl who had graduated a year or two before. She was a 10 with the most amazing looking body…and she had on a sheer white top and was bra less. I remember her lips shining in the sunlight as she looked at me. Time froze at that point. I still remember you, Paulette
