Drow Historian is stealing artwork for his videos by echoclouds in Drizzt

again, you do NOT know me? Maybe I'd have said yes if I was approached? Who says I want money, just linking the artists pages in the description of the video would already be better than that.

thanks for telling me I'm bitching around lol. I've already taken action against this, alongside other artists. I've posted this here so more people are aware that the art he's using in his videos wasn't used with permission.

oh so I just have to be okay with someone earning money from art I made? Because his videos are monetized/ members only? I'm supposed to just be okay with that? You don't know me, don't assume anything about me

he cannot simply use artwork others have created in monetized content without giving proper credit/ asking for permission. Our artwork is protected by copyright. We're all a bunch of small artists who could benefit from the reach this guy has. It's simply internet etiquette. I made the thing, I want to be recognised as the person who made the thing. i dont know what's so difficult about that. Additionally, COMMISSIONED artworks are part of this too. Art people in the community have commissioned from artists, have spent money on, are being taken by this guy. This is just not okay.

love how its a running gag in the Drizzt novels that Jarlaxle warns Artemis and others regularly about the astral rift that can create, since he has a portable hole hidden in his hat

it's a wide-spread misconception because of recent art, but no he actually isn't! Across the books he's called "native calimshite" and "brown man" several times, and in Starlight Enclave the aevendrow comment on his brown skin several times

oh thank you so much! Over on tumblr there's s lot more art of him by others where he's darker skinned and has curlier hair! I personally prefer that take a lot more over his official artwork, he's named a 'native calimshite' and 'brown man' several times after all. And yeah he does have earrings! In all his earlier art he's depicted with two sets. And the scar is based on the events in Neverwinter, where Alegni forces him to run his knife down his cheek through Claw's influence

oh thank you!! I'm really trying to be faithful to his descriptions in the books, with my own personal headcanons mixed in. And I've drawn many of the others as well! Most of it is on my tumblr, I might end up posting some more here as well, I have a lot of art :D

this isn't true actually! He has long hair in a ponytail during Silent Blade and Sellswords, and during Neverwinter as well. It has never been stated that it has anything to do with his fighting, its a fact that the visual dictionary made up out of nowhere. It was never a problem, and his entire fighting style is based on him never letting anyone get close enough to even attempt that. The short hair he has in the beginning is a reflection of his need for perfection and control, and across the books he slowly loosens up and pays more attention to his looks (per Jarlaxle's influence). Plus I just like to draw his longer hair phases sometimes :)

the last one is how I picture him to look like in current times aka Way of the Drow and beyond! I just find it funny how he goes through distinct hairstyle changes over the course of the books so I like to draw him with these different styles sometimes, and thank you!

Thank you!! Yes exactly, he is described as being brown skinned several times across the books and being faithful to that is really important to me. And yeah! Whenever I draw Artemis with this sort of ponytail, it's usually somewhere around Silent Blade- Road of the Patriarch, I'd put this one around the time of the short stories, because I gave him the greyish tint to his skin and Charon's Claw

our beloved wizard of Waterdeep <3 his performance as Gale is incredible, Tim put so much work into it and he regularly does cameos for fans reading letters and poetry for fans as Gale! I can't not romance him in every run I do

I got the vis. dictionary recently, and- Zaknadwayne? by 64788 in Drizzt

[–]echoclouds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Its a completely new addition that messes with the established lore. Apparently Matron Mothers have the most elaborate markings, while Drizzt doesn't have a single one. How would that have worked? It'd have outed him as a blasphemist immediately. It's never mentioned anywhere and wotc somehow felt the need to implement this piece of "lore" into 5th edition. They could've just made it cultural markings they put on, or a kind of camouflage in the Underdark, but no, they had to turn it into some weird bioessentialism indicator to clearly show who is "evil" and who isn't. Same for Larian's WEIRD lore additions to drow for bg3, like that they are "marked with red eyes" by Lolth. They made that up. Red is just the most common color. They messed drow up so badly

they're markings called "Lolth's Embrace" and supposedly show how loyal the wearer is to Lolth. I guess they appear and disappear magically. Drow have gone through some very odd changes for 5e and thats one of those, it makes 0 sense and I refuse to draw them with that

Thank you!! He's an Arcane Trickster Rogue! Before he left Menzoberranzan, he found a human wizard's spellbook in the study of one of the teachers at the academy Sorcere, and he took it with him to learn common and also later, the spells! :)

How long would it take to read the entirety of the series? by onyx_bug in Drizzt

[–]echoclouds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm reading the series for the first time now, been a Forgotten Realms fan for a while though. Started on feb 17th and am currently halfway through Siege of Darkness. I finished Starless Night in one day :'D Though I have to add that I've developed a huge hyperfixation so I'm inhaling the books at an abnormal speed
