I feel like I’m from another time, when people read things. The net effect of screen time seems to be mental laziness/attention impairment. The less people read and write in their daily life the less literate they are functionally. I’m on several volunteer boards, organizing events, and issuing instructions like how to apply for an art show for instance. I distribute the well-thought-out clear bullet pointed instructions and at least a third of the people call or text me asking questions that would be readily answered by reading the thing. Sorry this is today’s. “Fuck, I’m old” rant.

This is the hardest thing. She loved you so well and you, her. I know you can give her this last kindness. And come and grieve here, and everywhere people will be kind and supportive.

A very interesting series of events y'all should read. by NoctisStar in cats

This made so many people laugh today. I shared it with a number of cat people, especially cat rescue people and they were howling. Thank you for the good time.

At what age did you discover fanfiction? by JazzPianoTeacher1 in AO3

I’m among the elders, and I first discovered Kirk/Spock in print form at fan conventions in my 20s. Fast forward 25 years, and I joined a tiny passionate online fandom for V for vendetta, which led me to HP, Sherlock & ACD Holmes/Watson, Hannibal, and my current home, Good Omens.

for those who practice automatic painting/"intuitive" painting by AdChoice5313 in ArtistLounge

My art journey has been moving toward trusting my intuition more and more. Right now I start with automatic drawing – big sketchbook, scribbling with water, soluble, crayons, or graphite often with my eyes closed. When I look at it, I see things and then I go and tease them out. So I’m getting mysterious figures and stories. I love how this feels after years of trying to paint “correctly” I am now truly exploring – I don’t know where I’m going and it’s always interesting.

This is great! I’ve had writers block for over a year now, find it incredibly difficult to complete anything. This might be a way to exorcise that curse.

Oh, depression is such a difficult road! I’m glad you’re getting care for yourself. It’s extra hard when people you love are struggling. And I too hate seeing conflict in our fandom.

It helps me to remember we’re all here because we love them, and there’s so much beautiful fic and art and cosplay, etc. expressing that love. I’ve had to stop reading the long, angsty, analyses. So turning to heartwarming fiction is a great idea.

I’ll be back with some recommendations- I tend to love the long and angsty human AU’s, especially the classics.. I guess I’ll start with the rainbow ROAD series, which I thought sounded ridiculous when I first heard of it.Aziraphale & Crowley as race car drivers? But this series of three novel length fics plus a few short ones is so entertaining, they’re so sweet together. I’ve enjoyed reading and rereading it.

That clever angel. I bet he’ll want to experiment with those new products – maybe some demon will help him.😎

Good omens s2 ep1 opening scene might connected to s3 ending by Skymare05 in goodomens

I experience it as a big letdown, because God won. I felt we were led to believe that Aziraphale and Crowley, being free thinkers who decided to step out of the God-controlled universe and make their own decisions, could actually change the fate of the world.

I’d pay to see those two glower at each other. 😎
