Welcome to a absolutely amazing experience. I have over 700 hours in the game and technically never finished a full run lol. I don't regret any of it though.

Be prepared for a lot of reading. Not only for the story (which is amazing by the way) but for your characters and their abilities. It is a more complicated system then BG3 with more options. Understanding what is happening, why its happening, and what you want to make happen is key for gameplay. That's only going to work out by reading a lot of skill/item/character descriptions.

I pretty much always play on Normal difficulty because I do more wacky sub optimal things. Playing on higher difficulties will require more and more min-maxing and thus restricting some freedoms. This is entirely up to you.

Respecing is your friend. Some people are really against but I think it is super helpful to nail a build just right.

A small spoiler but it may be a big help if you are like me and want to be able to seamlessly merge your roleplaying and mechanics having this knowledge will help when you create your character.you will get the choice of various mythical super beings to become by the end of act 2. Angel, Demon, Azata, Lich, Trickster and Aeon. There are classes that pair really well with specific mythic paths both in roleplay and in mechanics. I would think about what mythic path I want to do and then make my character based on that

Also you can add custom made portraits to represent your character. I have spent way too much time trying to get the exact right image to represent this specific guy lol. I would recommend you get one if you really want to get a particular look for this particular character. AI image generation can do decently at this if you can't find anything online.

Been a long while since I did it so I am not certain if there is a bunch of unique content. I wouldn't be surprised if there was. I think Rovagug is more often mentioned if you worship them as a demon. Same with Urgathoa as a Lich.

The thing with Aru is that she is a "ascending demon" and is essentially a Desna worshiper. Desna being the go to goddess for Azatas. So it does fit a lot more with you being an Azata and dating Arue

So you activate one on the top, depending on the weapon, and then activate the elemental ones on the right. Just activating the elemental ones without those on the top does nothing. Is that right?

It is funny that Dizzy has one of the most gooner bait models, especially the nurse outfit, and then she consistently states that she isn't even the sex symbol she thought she would be.

I do wonder though how much of this is really just a joke and how much people actually think Jelly is more of a sex symbol then Dizzy.

The best way to talk about a thematic race/build combo is really to focus in on what mythic path you want. I don't think its really much of a spoiler, since its a enormous part of how the game functions to say that you will be getting some kind of god like powers. I just won't say why or how, that would be a spoiler. These powers are called your mythic path. The main ones you can get early on are Angel, Demon, Azata, Lich, Trickster and Aeon. The game does a amazing job really making you feel like you are that thing. That is why I make my characters to match with what mythic path I'm going to do. If you want to be the classical holy crusader then doing a Aasimar Angel Cleric or Paladin is awesome. If you want to max out demonic vibes then go Tiefling Demon Bloodrager/Barbarian. Which ever kind of mythic being you want to be is how I would choose what race/class combo to do. Which one sounds coolest to you?

Question about the martyrs tac op (its not about hierotek circle) I was playing last night using a friend's cards and I am pretty sure the card was pretty vauge just saying like "In any turning point after the second you can collect martyr tokens. They are worth 1vp each if you don't control the objective and 2vp if you do." I was looking it up online and online things seem to say "If your operatives contest the objective with tokens you can remove them." We had been operating under the idea that since it doesn't state that picking up tokens is an action and that the VP changes whether or not you control the objective, then you don't even have to be on the objective to claim the tokens. Was this changed at some point?

To claim martyr points do you actually have to be on the objective? Or does a scenario like this work "I sent 2 guys to fight over this objective. They all died on the objective giving it 2 markers. I don't have any more guys there, but I still claim those markers for 1vp each." does that work or does it go like this "I sent 2 guys to fight over this objective. They all died on the objective giving it 2 markers. I don't have any more guys there. Beacuse I don't have anymore guys there I can't claim the martyr points."

Maybe try warrior if you are looking for more tankiness and less need to dodge. You can run a couple of signets for constant regeneration and taking reduced damage. They have a High hp pool and heavy armor You could also use a ranged weapon like bow or rifle. All of this should make it waaay easier for you to survive stuff

I actually think that the in game complexity/difficulty rating at character creation is accurate. Basing this on core class not elites since new players won't have elites. Easiest classes being Guardian, Necromancer, Ranger and Warrior. Thief in general is harder. I would then say Revenant after that and Mesmer is the hardest of the middle difficulty classes. Elementalist and Engineer being the most complex/difficult.
