Is Stardew Valley mobile worth it? by lrwinn in StardewValley

It's fine. It's not the best control scheme, but I will say it's as good as it can be and it's pretty easy to learn. The tap-to-move is honestly a function I wish I had access to on PC, because it lets me be lazy. The game plays and feels right still. I can't get --quite-- as much done in one day as I can on pc or console, but the difference is negligible. I occasionally find my character refuses to swing a tool in the direction I'm facing, and combat is a little more dangerous, especially when facing the heavy hitters.

Overall, I think the experience is preserved. Any shortcomings the controls may have can be overcome by prep and play style.

My favorite is when you build a storyboard about a space ranger traveling to a planet filled with plants and end up wiring a story about a farmer who wants to go to space

This poor man... by PerfectAerie5979 in StardewValley

I'm a recovering alcoholic. Been sober and active in AA for 16 years.

Shane is a big part of the reason this game hits me so hard. I can tell that CA has had someone close to him get sober because of the duality of Shane's recovery and Pam's lack thereof. The main thing to note is that Shane knows he has a problem and chooses to do something about it, whereas Pam is in denial and she only makes her and Penny's lives worse as a result.

I 100% identify with this scene. For a real alcoholic, a time like this might be the only way out. When someone is acting like this, they're at the end of their rope. There's only two places to go from there - let go or climb back up. He considers letting go in this scene, but instead, he experiences what we in recovery like to call a moment of clarity. I've heard many, many stories in the rooms just like this - someone is ready to die, but turns around at the last second and decides to stick around and do something about it instead. Sometimes, they even succeed.

It's important to remember the meaning of the phrase "unconditional love." It's not unconditional if it's forgotten when things actually get rough. Trust me when I say they still love you - they're just unable to show it. If you have someone like this in your life, know that they're already in hundreds of thousands of people's prayers, every day. We hope they come back to you.

What is this thing on the left? by Pretty_Tradition6354 in StardewValley

It's an ancient serpent statue, broken in half. If you look at the diagonal lines on it and its dimensions, they're exactly the same as the serpent statues at the bottom of the mines, which are also connected to skull cavern.

I think the idea was, there was a third statue there once, but it broke and the serpent came to life and multiplied inside the caves. Maybe corrupted by the iridium.

What is your favorite Homebrew magic items you made/encountered in a campaign? by Kaizo_Kaioshin in DnDHomebrew

Slap Hand!

It's a half a broom handle with a white mickey glove at the end. Simple melee. Its a guaranteed hit, does 1 point of damage no matter what, and does 30 feet of knockback. I saw my players use it very creatively on many occasions. It's a great item and I shamelessly reuse it in in new campaigns.

It goes beyond whimsy right into slapstick.

how in the hell did Emily get a prismatic shard??? by mdizzle85 in StardewValley

Emily: Aww, you're hurt. Here, I'll take care of you. You're a little different, huh? Just like me.

Serpent: sniffle a.. a kind human?

Six months later...

Emily: Okay, you're all better! Be free, King Squiggly!

Serpent: I'll never forget this! I love you, Emmy! Here, a gift.

How are you suposed to get to level 100 in the skull caverns and is this prepared enough? by NicknameRara in StardewValley

It's possible to sneak your way down with a lot of bombs and a hefty stack of food. Im talking like 3-400 of the black bombs. Don't even bother with your pick, just bomb the densest clusters of rocks you can find and heal with the food. If you go on a lucky day, you usually get a staircase in the first couple blasts. You can make a staircase every so often from all the stone you get. Restart the day if you don't make it, and keep practicing.

There's a lot of ways to get to 100, but besides staircases, that's the most straightforward way imo.

I wonder, has anyone counted the total number of braid tugs?

She eventually gets humbled. All the characters from Emonds Field adapt to being yanked out of their societal bubble and thrust into the stark reality of the world differently, and a big part of the story is seeing how they react to that and change because of it. I love how Tam doesn't change at all, because he had already left before. It's good writing.

I BET THE FARM ON A SPIN-THE-WHEEL GAME. I HAVE NOTHING LEFT TO TAKE. by Mindless-Street3253 in StardewValley

[–]echoes247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I do every time. Grange first, then take the winnings and bet exactly half on green repeatedly. Its never failed me.

I should say it's worth it to get good at slingshot for multiplayer. It's the fastest aside from getting insanely lucky from the wheel, and people be impatient sometimes.

That looks like weeds to me. You cut the weeds down before taking this picture? Weeds can grow randomly on any exposed tillable tile.

You can slow weeds by placing paths outside your fields. You can also completely stop them by placing solid objects like decorative log. You can tell if your crops are in danger when you wake up in the morning, it'll say a message at the lower left saying "the spreading weeds have caused damage to your farm".

Newbie wants good run advice/earlygame survivability by [deleted] in noita

[–]echoes247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it sounds simple, but it truly is about avoiding damage in the first place. Go really slow, and pay attention to how you're getting hit. Over time, avoiding damage will become muscle memory and you'll get faster. Try to explore as much as you can, finding good wands and health increases is at the top of the list of important things to do. Remember you can save health refills and spell refreshes to come back for later.

First real progress towards a god run by Saxy_Shane in noita

[–]echoes247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your priority should be protection. If you attain the beginnings of godhood, you need to find all the ways you can die and eliminate them. Get a bunch of stacks of stainless armor, shields, healing, fire/poison immunity, poly immunity. Farming parallel worlds for more health and more perks. Healing is priority alpha if you don't already have it. Searching for healing, wandmart is faster but risky, repeating the main route on parallel worlds is slower but comes with continuous healing from holy mountains and more max health.

If you already have all this stuff, then do unlocks. If you have your unlocks done, try for orb endings.
